Would you buy this car? Carfax Report is attached!

Notice how the last three owners have put barely any miles on the car, and sold them? The carfax is clean but it really makes me wonder why people don't keep this slutty whore of an M3 with COMPETITION PACKAGE.

Good looking car, but I would never pay 30k for an E46.

When I see the word "auction", it makes me want to steer clear.

I was looking at e46's recently and found a super low mile 05 loaded up (no CP) for $25k, a no stories car. Seems a little high, but obviously you'll talk them down to $27k!

Try to get one without navigation. Interior looks so dated with that navi in there!

Selling at auction doesn't bother me but price does seem a bit high. It definitely would need a PPI, including a paint meter.

I looked at it. When the e46s are approaching the ~30k mark I just start to look at the e9x m3s. :\

Pre purchase inspection
Car looks clean. I would have it inspected first.
Many times, if the first owner leased it, then ended up purchasing it at the end of the lease, that counts for 2 owners. Happened to me on my 'ol ZHP. I leased it first, then purchased it. On the carfax it appeared as two owners.

gotcha.. thanks!

I asked if I could get the car on a dyno before buying it, and the seller expressed concerns that the technician might f up and blow up the motor. Is this a rational concern?

Ahhh, I would tell him, "ok Bra, if you claim that this engine is made strong, then why are you hesitant?"
I would skip this clown. Is in it to make a quick buck.

48k miles at that price is e30 M3 money. Not worth it.

For 8-10k more you could be driving a low mile 08 e9x. That's my suggestion.

Looks like an inspection was performed around 40k miles which I would assume is inspection II. Dont see any documentation listed of inspection I so I would want clarification on that. Also the ad states he gets 26mpg...lol maybe in his dreams.

Why would you put this car on a dyno? What would you want to test instead of a ppi

Competition packaged E46s always fetch a higher price tag

I agree with the others, I wouldn't buy a $30,000 E46. I'd definitely pay 22-24K for one, though. The one you posted is a really nice example, and the CS M3s don't get driven much because some people think they're collector's items.

I'd definitely have an E46 M3 inspected before purchasing. But I, unlike some of the others here, would have an E46 with navi.

if the interior color was different it might be able to pull 30. for reference about a month or two ago a bmw cca driver sold this same exact car. same year same mileage (45k), zcp, and manual but interior was cinammon. it was very lightly modded on the exterior but tastefully. car booked for $28k and he sold it in a day for $30k that's the type of e46 you pay top dollar for.

Price is way high... and will be a hard sell later on as the grey interior is a very unpopular color in the e46 m3 world.
