1,200 Checkup at BMW of Dallas

Anybody have their 1,200 service at BMW of Dallas? Words of wisdom?

I asked if they had the oil filter (they do) and if they are aware of the M-DCT TSB for fluid changes (they were).

I'm going to have them do a tint install as well.

I personally was not a big fan of BMW of Dallas. I'm not saying they will do anything wrong but if you are able to I would say to make your way to Classic BMW.

I've setup my appointment already. Are they bad enough to cancel?

No, but I have gotten much better service at classic since they opened their new facility. Classic will almost always get you in a BMW loaner instead of a enterprise car rental..

Speaking of problems. I posted these on another forum already, but...

Had the car in my possession for one week, to the minute.

Who knows. From what I've read, the problem is with a loose harness. Maybe the guy they have working the days they do M-DCT production runs likes his Hefeweizen too much. It seems like a quality control problem.

It goes in tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how the EDC repair goes.

The dealer isolated the EDC problem to the front passenger strut. Bad news is that they have to order the replacement part from Germany. Even worse, it is on backorder, 3-4 weeks.

Dealer asked if I wanted to drive it while the part is on order, saying it is OK to drive as long as I don't "track it or go off road." I took it home.

Back to the theme of the thread... BMW of Dallas did everything correctly for the checkup. The tint job is good too.
