I asked them to quote installation:

  • "$200?!? Seriously?"
  • "Yep, it's 2 hours of work. There are a lot of screws..."
  • "Uh, yeah, I get that there are screws. I'll do it"

Took me about 40 minutes to replace, and at least ten minutes of that was drinking beer

Well, at least their part prices are pretty good. Mine quoted me almost $150 more than the realoem price, and like you, two hours of labor at $130/hr. Ridiculous.

I ordered the parts, just gotta get the car up on ramps, I'm sure it won't take an hour.

Ugh. I wish I had come across this a little sooner. I just recently had all three pieces replaced at the stealership (I know...boo-hiss...but I had schedule constraints and did not have time to do it myself).

Just replaced the drivers side, ordered from tischer for the cheapest price that I could find. Easy fix though, I would say 10 minutes tops.

Trademotion.com - BMW of Morristown, NJ was best I saw. Ordered. Looking forward to installing after I swap my front sway to the Dinan bar.

Left and right pieces

My left and right pieces are damaged, but the center one is fine. Thinking I really don't need to replace those pieces. Not thinking there are going to be any negative implications to this? Anyone disagree?

Both of my side ones are damaged and ope on the bottom. My mechanic said not to worry about them, but the center one was dragging so I had it replaced for $170 after BMWCCA discount with free install.

My driver side piece tore off (thanks to an overzealous parking garage entry).

Got a new one in today. $71 shipped home from BMW of Freehold.

Anybody knows a good place to source those parts?

Looking around for only 51-75-7-896-420 I get:

Tischer: $89.33 + $12.95
Turner: $96.95 + $9.33
ECS: $92.22
BMW Morristown: $76.15 + shipping(?)
Local Dealer: $94.91 + $6.64 ($85.42 + $5.98 w/ CCA discount)

That seems quite high especially compared to the realoem listed price ($36.84). Wonder what happened to those parts for them to quadruple in price since 2009 (were $29.46 on Tischer at the time)

Are they easy to replace yourself without access to a lift? Its kind of hard to get under there since the clearance is so low.

Tischer always sells at a discount!!
Insane that they now charge around $360.00 for these parts now:

Diagram Part 1: Underhood shield (51757899820) $165.79
Diagram Part 2: Under cover seal (qty. 2) (51758042233) $13.32

Anyone know where to find a more reasonable price? ECS is even more right now.

Hello -

I ordered all parts from Tischer in the diagram as all mine are trashed (just picked up 2012 E93 convertible with 9700 miles).

Got email back that one of the parts 51758044389 is no longer available, it is called "adapter".

Is that one of the external pieces? It's only $9, but am not sure if I need it.

I'll post a pic of the damaged center piece in a bit so you who have done this replacement can advise me if I need to seek this part out from another source.

Thanks!

I replaced mine once so far. Next time I'll cover them in resin re: fiberglass to strengthen them before I install.

Why do you need 2 under cover seals?
Did you find any cheaper place?
