Imagine that tire sidewall is the side of a your aorta (i.e., you have an aortic aneurysm). What would you do?

If it was an aneurysm: repair it once its larger than 5.5 cm. Until then, sit on it. Crappy analogy.

See the nature of an analogy is that it isn't an exact replica of the analogous situation ...

... And you don't repair the aneurysm until it's 5.5cm!? Yikes, that's huge. Scary to think of it being that big before needing medical intervention.

A tyre with ANY sign of a bubble should be replaced without question. Bulges in a tyre sidewall are caused by a break in the tyre carcass and are likely to burst without notice.
Insurance or not, the next time you drive that car should be straight to the tyre dealer.

Definitely have to change that tire, very unstable at higher speeds as others have stated. Also the vibration felt in the steering wheel is aweful.

While I hate to admit I've driven a tire like that, I'd get it replaced ASAP.

Although everyone here is obviously already on the right track, I'll still chime in to agree that the tire needs replacing as soon as possible. It's better to be safe!
