Unhappy My enhanced premium sound sucks!!

Hello guys,
I have an 08 E93 M3 with premium sound. I was hoping for decent sound system when i was getting the car, but the sound system is truly a nightmare. I have been changing the equalizer quite a bit and done some research online with no luck. I'm not a sound expert, but I know what pleases my ears. EPS does not have crispy base and only way is I turn the treble up, but then the sound gets too loud for my ear. More importantly, the setup only works for certain types of music, sucks for others. Overall it is not a good experience with a sound system. I know I'm supposed to listen to the engine, but I love to have decent music in my car too.
My question is: is there any decent upgrade for the EPS?

PS: I have done a few research on site, but I dont seem to find a good solution.

Thanks in advance

What exactly are you wanting out of the system? Honestly, I would never expect awesome bass from any stock stereo setup. If that's what you're looking for then an aftermarket amp, sub, enclosure, LOC and harness are needed.

Exactly what The Tech said. Premium sound is definitely an upgrade over the regular sound option but it won't ever really be as good sounding as other aftermarket options. You can take the car to any reputable sound shop and see what they offer you. Or if you really think it's a problem with the car then bring it over to the dealer and see what your service adviser states.

Honestly, I just expect clear base (not too heavy), clear sound at all ranges. But what I have been hearing is not clear no matter how I change the equalizer. The base system in my 5 series is better than this . I was looking at BSW. Is it decent?

Maybe you need some warranty work on the system? I don't think BSW really makes much for the EP system. If you're looking for component upgrades, do a search on here.

The bass was the only place I thought was really lacking in the EP system. I did a sub upgrade on mine and am perfectly happy now.

First of all, reduce to a minimum (1-square) the speed-dependent EQ setting. I bet that the bass sounds decent and punchy while stopped but forcefull and muddy while at speed.

You need a trunk sub and a XD500/3 (underseat woofers and trunk sub) amp.

By having the sub- and midbass separate from the OEM system you will be able to adjust the EQ much better for the rest of the speakers and better control of the bass blending via the adjustable crossovers in the XD500/3.

I have stock enhanced premium audio and was looking for an upgrade.

I was able to see and hear a Reus Systems upgrade at Bimmerfest.

I was impressed with the quality of installation and most importantly, the sound.

Reus Systems installed a sub and amp, swapped the stock tweeters and installed a small speaker in the back of the rear view mirror.

I am VERY happy with results!!

bsw does have upgraded speakers for the eps system-

http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...Series-M3-E90/

i did the speaker upgrade to my base audio and am very pleased.the speakers are of high quality, the sound is much crisper and less muddy.this is a good way to go if you want to stay as oem as you can,and not run new wires.install is easy.it's not as good as an all new system, but is a lot better than stock, and very convenient, being designed for the car.

There is no need to upgrade the mids/tweeters in the EPS, and BSW never completed the EPS application anyways. The problem are the OEM amp woofer outputs.

Agreed. I replaced just the amp and subs on my base (hifi?) system and it sounds pretty damn good.

I'm contemplating this same setup. Who performed your install? Also, how big of an improvement was this?

Thanks!

Hopefully I'm happy with the EPS on my M3 order. I am pretty impressed with my '08 328i bass, it has some nice low kick down to maybe 30-40Hz. The tweeters are awful like the OP said, just hurt your ears.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I did it myself. It was a HUGE improvement. Definitely worth the cost. IIRC, it cost me only $700 or so.

You *can* put in the L7 speakers, but you don't *have* to.

FWIW, I have the hi-fi system and just adding Technic's harness assembly and a JL XD 600/6 made a big difference. This coming from a guy who has Hybrid Audio Technology speakers in the E46M3 (and going into the X5 next week).

Install is a snap w/Technic's harness, power, and ground. High quality kit. You just need to mount the amp and that's relatively easy if you have some rudimentary skills.

That's what I originally heard ok well thank you ill def try that first and see. By a big difference you mean? Better clarity? More bass? I'm decent with my hands just worried on hooking the amp up I have 0 skills in replacing an amp. Is there another way of contacting technic? I pmed him a few days ago no response.
