Ticking Noise
Anybody suffered any kind of 'ticking' noises from any of their doors/door areas?
My drivers side door area seems to 'tick' over any rough surface. The car has covered 1200 miles, and has just started this in the last 100 or so. I have tried grappling with every part concievable whilst on the move, but cannot stop it. Any thoughts? It has coincided with a warm spell of weather (which incidentally has since turned cold). Could this have dried something out? I know I used to silicone my E36 regularly, but this is only 6 weeks old! |

Have you try the spot in center above ashtray-below temp/radio trim piece.
That's where my "cracking" noise come from when i am in a rough freway, i will ask dealer to refit that cover on my next service. hope this will sole ur problem, let me know. |

I have those noises (door and centre console) from day one. My 1 month old E90 is still in the service centre....for almost 3 weeks now.
It is a problem that the service centre cannot seems to fix. |

Have a similar noise that can't be fixed. My point of view is, relatively subtle noises should be ignored as it will only result in disappointment and worset yet, other kinds of noises generated as the result of trying to fix it.

I agree with meruailir....I am very disappointed with my E90.
If it is just subtle noise, just ignore it. Just accept the fact the assembling quality of BMW is bad. |

No, No - there is a BMW service bulletin for this noise, caused by the door lock striker on the B pillar needing slight adjustment. A light creaking / ticking noise over bumps etc. So ALL DEALERS know about this!!! Don't let them BS you. Check out the maintenance section, I had the same prob on a new golf with the same fix by VW.

Another idea from me: Did you check your belts? The mechanism , which rolls up and down the belt also make a "ticking" noise while driving. At least some E90-/E91-owners in Germany and other European countries claimed this problem, BMW know this.

My noise seems to come from the front-ish right hand side of the car. I have noticed that it is silent when I go to work (middle of the night) but audible when I come home during the day.
I thought at first it was the radio speaker, but clutching that has not helped! Stupid question, is the B pillar the middle pillar? The noise could be coming from the front pillar (which ever that one's called), but like all these things, it is a job just trying to source it. I will have another go, and if not, get the dealer to sort it. Thanks for the tips. |

The pillars of a car are lettered from the front of the car backwards.
The windshield pillar being 'A'. The pillar with the rear doors hung from it is 'B' etc etc. The fact it doesn't do it at night seems to show that it is a clearance issue, made worse by expansion of the offending parts in the warmer daytime. The door striker issue will sound like it is coming from within the door anyhow, ask the dealers to address it properly in line with their own technical bulletins.

I get the popping noise coming from both front doors and I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening. I figured the E90 was going to be an improvement over the E46 in the NVH department. As it stands now this is far from the case. |

Car booked into the dealers in about 11 days time.
Have been told that my courtesy car will be an X3. Hope that this does not tick as well! |

A quick update - I had to cancel my appointment with the dealer because of work, but in the meantime (with reference to another post) sparayed the window rubbers and door seals with a clear sillicone.
Car seemed okay, and it is hot - 23 degrees - for here! I'll give a few more days to see if it has actually worked properly. |
