Yikes!.....that type of cutting won't be happenin' in my car. Lowering the seat would be ideal. We MUST find the answer!

I concur, answer must be found!

Damn BMW and the airbag malfunction. It would be nice to just put in some Recaros, but for the safety of my passengers I would never disable the passenger airbag.

One thing you can do that I did in my e46 M3 is just unhook the springs on the bottom of the seat. That gave me about 3/4" more headroom. It does stretch the leather a little bit.

On each of my 4 s2000s, I had one of the Backyard Special seat lowering brackets, which was awesome, but going the way of the dodo, with all the sensors and crap on newer seats.

...picked up the steamer tonight. If anyone is interested in knowing whether this concept gives me some extra headroom, let me know, and I'll keep u posted.

Let me know if you can see this picture. I took it specifically for you. Unfortunately Porsche, but BMW should be similar.

Thx Tomasz, but i'm not really sure what I'm looking at, or for. I looked under the M3 seat & it appeared quite a bit different than the one in your photo (at least to my untrained eye)

...drove some twisties today with my helmet on and I can say that I REALLY need another 1/2" of headroom. I tried slouching in my seat, moving my seat back, but neither option was very helpful. Someone PLEASE come up with a solution!

Are aftermarket seats a viable option? I know, I know...I'll do a

For all tall M3 driver's - I picked up approx 2" of additional headroom by installing a Recaro Profi XL seat.

Foam - we can cut the foam in half. Then properly reapply the leather. Its an option. I Still rather lower the seat. Also, steamer... how is that going?
