I do not. Spent a fair amount of time in my friends lightly tuned one, for what it's worth. As I said, they're good cars, but I prefer the M3 for myriad reasons, even though I do sometimes miss the 0-60 surge my (sold in 05) 996TT had. Didn't you get your M3 less than one week ago? Maybe your understanding of the two cars isn't as comprehensive as you think, though I respect your opinion that a well modded 335 is a very capable car (and for the 3rd time a good car in stock form too).

Anyhow, not sure why I ever stepped into this thread. In two years I'll be an F82 driver (why I signed up) and the 335-M3 silliness will hopefully be dissipating.

I had a E90 335i with bolt on + V3, now I have a E92 M3 with Dinan intake/ecu/suspension/akrapovic evo and i havn't looked back

Even when both the car was stock, my 335i felt a bit stronger low end.
But 335i had 300lb/ft and M3 has 295lb/ft so its actually pretty similiar.

In the end its just crank torque though, what matters is after the transmission multiplies it and put it to the ground.

Problem with the M3 i think is it just dosnt feel very fast but I ran against my buddy's c63 and I pull 1-2 car length on him no problem, but his car felt quite a bit faster.

I just tell myself I have a fast car that feel like a slow car nowadays ...

Actually in a perfect world, I would have a 335i for daily and the m3 for the weekender but I dont mind daily driving the m3 at all! once I got used to it, i didnt complain about the lack of torque and grew to love high revving na... to bad its the end for those breed of motors

I came from 335i to a M3 just recently. So I can tell you how exciting I am and what a step-up it is. Is true that the M3 lacks the low end torque of a 335i but the way that M3 deliver its power and how fast it rev more than makes up for it. Don't get me wrong, the 335i is a fast car but the M3 is just soo crazy; the way that it sounds and how the power is delivered. The setup of the M3 suspension and the way that it handles is just unbelievable; and this is coming from a 335i with a PSS9 coilover setup. I don't think there is even a need to modify the suspension on the M3, it just handles so damn well in stock form.

I think M3 is always at a class of its own so there is no need to react to immature comments that some ppl make. We are still one big family and both are wonderful cars that BMW produce.

The 335 will not beat a M3 light to light unless it has a LSD. even so i wouldnt say it would beat it because they break a lot of tire first gear which makes there first gear a write off especially when tuned.

So many times I hear about the superior torque of the 335 or135 ( Wow, a who.e 5 lb feet more torque). What I fail to hear mentioned is the additional 120horsepower of the M3.

Anyways, who cares.

BTW, too much wine tonight...that is all.

The M3 is the ultimate driving machine, and yes some of us cannot afford it right now due to other priorities in life. That said, an M3 will be in my garage as soon as I am done paying $40K for my daughter's annual tuition
Ofcourse not its what makes the world spin..

Im not calling this one member out, it's just an example and theres plenty others with this attutide.

I just want to get this out there.

So what if your MODDED 335I might be faster in a straight line? You think if we can afford our M3s that we couldn't get a 335I or something even faster in a straight if we wanted to? Maybe we wanted our M3s cause it has one of the BEST N/A V8s out there, laps tracks faster, handles better, brakes better, steers better, looks better, SOUNDS 10x better and has a superior transmission DCT & 6MT then your 335I. So thanks for keeping us informed that you car might be faster then ours.

END RANT
I just read this whole thread. Wow.

Too many different types of owners with different goals to make any definite conclusions. Given some of the blanket "feelings" statements on both ends suggests there are some really pathetic people on both sides.

My 335 is my first car I ever bought (age 26) Couldn't afford a M3. Luckily I've had the pleasure of growing up in a BMW family and drove many M5 and M3s. Always wanted one.

Once I got the 335 and started making more money I started to tune my car and feel in love with that process. The only real difference now between my car and an M3 is that I modded my 3 series and BMW Motorsport tuned the your 3 series.

Whose is better? Subjective opinions. That can't be argued by anyone here.

I can say that now that I can afford a M3 I wouldn't buy one because I like having my car with parts and driving characteristics that I choose.

Personally preference.

Agreed! Like I have said and many have said already the 335i competitor is the 1M and Z4MC NOT the E92 M3. Sorry some of you folks are still dragging this shit along. An E46 M3 is another one that would give it a run for its money. LMFAO!

And for the record, I also own an N54 135i vert.

As for sound, I completely agree that the m3 sounds better, but for a city driven car, and races from light to light, the n54 beats the s65, on the track the s65 beats the n54.
/thread

you own a 335i, so go back to your E90Post forum and write about how 335i is faster on a straight line.

When I was buying my first M3, I drove both 335i and M3, and I seriously was very disappointed with the 335i. Just go drive an M3 and you will see

Actually the 1M is fast, both stock and modded.
I always preferred 135i over 335i anyways.

So, which is better? The Adrian Newey designed Red Bull F1 car which corners better, and is a better track car? Or Ferrari's F1 car this season with a higher top speed on the straights?

We'll find out by the time the races are over in Texas and Brazil I suppose.

My money is on Seb, even though Fernando is a better driver. Because Red Bull is the better car.
