Anyone Caring about the Govt Shutdown?

I haven't been caring at all, but it seems by Friday we might be without a good portion of Govt services, if a budget isn't agreed upon.

No. It's not like that. A government shutdown doesnt mean things like military, law enforcement, ss and Medicare services and almost everything else will be shutdown. Just a couple IRS auditors and definitely congress. I truthfully don't care but I certainly hope that steps, no matter how drastic, are taken to lower our $14 trillion deficit. I just think the democrats should agree on the republicans budget plan. It really isn't as bad as it is being portrayed by the left and it'll cut the deficit by trillions within the next decade.It's happened many times before so I doubt there would be a revolution if the government shutdowns.

No one would get laid off. They would be put on a temporary furlough.

Government was shut down twice in 1995. Nothing happened.

I know, I said temporary, but still - there is no place for such a thing in our country today and I dont think it should have come down to this. (IMO)

Wait... what? Republicans have a plan? How come we didn't hear about it? Or you are talking about cutting Medicare, which Republicans consider an entitlement even though we pay for that shit out of every damn paycheck we get?

Even if we stopped paying in to it, they would bring up another tax to fill it's place.

I care...but not for myself. I'm one of those people who are not going to be paid but still expected to work since I'm mission essential. I have money and I do not care if I get paid late. I will get back paid so that's not an issue. The main problem that I have is that the men and women overseas fighting the wars will not get paid. Those people are expected to continue to risk their lives not knowing when they will get paid again. Talk about destroying any motivation they had. I am not okay with this.

With all the petty bickering...if no budget is in place. They still get paid but the troops do not.

Nope. The plan is to keep at as-is for people 55 and older. [GOP does not want to completely alienate their main voter base]
and have everyone else still pay for it, but have it voucher-based, where you present the voucher to the private insurance company,
hoping that they would cover your treatment.

So, we are still expected pay for it, but we will not be able to use it.

No it isn't. The US will use the Donald Trump tactic. Use your already highly leveraged debt to strong arm the creditors into financing future behavior for fear of catastrophic default. That how he has claimed bankruptcy 7 times yet remains a billionaire.
