RPI GTM??
Hey guys this is my first post Anyways I have an 08 manual E93 M3, and I'm looking for an exhaust system. I currently have my eye out for the RPI GTM exhaust. I haven't heard it in person but from YouTube videos I can sure tell it sounds sick. Any of you guys have any suggestions for me? Thnx.

Welcome aboard. Try using the Search function; you'll find that most of your questions can easily be answered by performing a simple forum search.
That being said, please understand that exhaust sound boils down to pure preference. Some people like loud, some people like hushed, some want valves, some don't, everyone is different. YouTube videos are never accurate or representative of the true sound of an exhaust setup, so the best thing to do is check out the Regional section of this forum and see if there are any meetups in your area. Going to a local meet will give you the chance to sample different setups in person, as well as ask all the questions you want. Some of the most popular are... Eisenmann Akrapovic Meisterschaft BMW Performance Megan Racing Gintani Dinan ...and many more from other awesome companies to appease all tastes. Enjoy the car and the forum! |

I had it on car for about a week and kept telling myself I'd get used to it, but no, it was terrible, my car began to get random little rattles in the dash because of the exhaust and I couldn't even have a conversation inside the cAr due to the drone. Stay away from rpi, it sounds cool from outside. But it isn't something u want to drive everyday if u ask me. Go with akra or m performance. Good luck

I ran the GTM for a year, sounded insane from the outside, but I couldn't deal with it anymore daily driving my car. Unfortunately we can't drive our cars in 3rd person
The GTM vid you saw was probably mine

if the gtm is too loud for your liking you might also consider their GTC system as that is to be a "quieter" version of their GTM

The GTM is kinda notorious for drone, but the bark of that exhaust is utterly amazing. I just like you was inspired to go the RPI route, by Krozi's videos and even though the drone made me worry a little the performance gains was all I could see. If you can handle it, go for it, but if not, I wouldn't worry because the GTC is a quality substitute, for those who need something a little less stressful on the ears.
I personally own the GTC, and I can vouch that unless you're doing 20mph in 6th gear, you wont hear any drone from the exhaust. With the windows up, the cabin sounds SLIGHTLY louder then stock... and I'm not even sure if that's true, it might just be in my head. From the outside though, it's loud when you want it to be. If you're just cruising it'll just sound like you a slightly aggressive exhaust, take the car to WOT, and people will now instantly, your exhaust isn't stock. The best thing though... Contrary to what Kwike92 said: Quote:
The GTC's performance numbers are almost on par with the GTM. If I'm not mistaken the GTM is rated to up to +25hp/+28tq. I dyno'ed my car when it was stock and it came in at 349.1 hp and 251.9 tq After I installed my RPI GTC system, I dyno'ed again. Numbers were 374 hp and 267.4 tq. That's +25 HP and 15 TQ with an exhaust system alone. Something only a handful of it's competitors can even claim ( Eisenmann & Meisterschaft ) The others can't even break the teens and you're paying a grand if not more for them. IMO I personally wouldn't recommend Akra unless you want to pay over 5k for something that sounds almost like stock. Plus the gain is only like 14/10, so where does the price tag even come from? Kind of a joke. If you want best bang for buck, at 3 grand, I personally believe the GTC is your best bet on the market. Sound clips of my car in case you want to hear it. Anyways, wanted to give you some info from someone who actually owned a RPI GTC exhaust system, and has heard the competition in person. Happy hunting

Is your GTC Cat Back, or full length? Those power games are impressive. I had an RPI on my E60 M5 and it sounded amazing, but was difficult to live with everyday due to drone inside the car. I would be anxious to hear about your experiences in terms of daily driving and noise in the cabin.

I've got the catless RPI and it is ridiculously loud! Drone from 2-3k rpm. Sounds insane from the outside which is music to everyone else's ears but yourself! lol
