Do you need to turn off PDC on '08s? The last picture shows it on a small rectangle at the upper left corner, but that's the new iDrive.

Too much work when I already have PDC, but would probably do it if I hadn't. Good job with the instructions .

No, you can have both PDC and Rear cam at the same time on 08. You can decide if you want to have just a camera or both or just a PDC. It is very easy to change.

Let's say I have both front and rear cameras. If I activate the front camera, when I'm done can I go straight back to the iDrive screen or do I have to cycle through inputs back to the idrive screen.

Similarly, can go straight to the front camera without having to cycle through the rear camera?

Ideally, I'd like to be able to manually go to the front camera whenever I like and just see the rear camera only when the car is in reverse... Can this be done?

On my car, (I have an older Aleksshop kit in one car, and a similar VSM kit in my other car), put in R for rear camera, old menu for front camera. front camera is then disabled by pressing "back" on the iDrive

I have an itchy trigger and might just grab the front and rear setup. It would be nice to just be able to switch the cameras on and off at will.

Nice! So you can get to the front without having to see the rear camera? I think I'm in!

Let me know where you end up getting this installed! I've been planning on doing the same later.

I looked at the instructions and it looks like a lot of panels to pop off. Kinda scared me. I think this one is beyond my skill level. Never done this kind of mod so not sure who I can trust for the install. I know Alek does installs, but I think he only makes it down to SoCal a few times a year.

I'll have to check out the manual and see what all is involved and get back to ya on it.

Sounds good. Let me know how it looks. I think having these cameras will be great... especially the front one.
