Extended Warranty Prices

So as my 2008 nears 50,000 miles I am thinking about picking up the BMW extended warranty since I may just hang onto my car until the next M3 comes out.... I realize there is a lot of arguing about the value but I figure when I sell the car I will get back maybe half of what I spend in resale. I notice the platinum msrp is $5900. what are people paying?

3rd party?

Are there any credible 3rd party warranties/service (maintenance) contracts?

I'm confused. Does the extended warranty cover like mechanical parts like the dct, suspension, and engine??

Or does it only cover maintenance like oil change and brake pads??

I am looking for the warranty. I don't think I will use all of the maintenance to justify the cost....

recent quotes

~$3,200 for each from BMW CA. They won't deal at all on it!

Different dealers sell them at difference prices. It pays to call around.

I'd do it, especially for DCT. Plus, as you said, the investment will factor in during the resale.

I think 7 years is like over $6k.... Am I wrong? I will start calling some dealers I guess.

Here you go, its a year old but I think the prices are still current.

Without a doubt some high dollar stuff, this is the extended vehicle protection, NOT extended maintenance.

I was quoted $4295 from BMW of Tulsa. I complained that it was to expensive so They quoted $3295.

Call around.

Which leads to the same question I've asked before; when is some enterprising dealer going to get creative and send PMs to the people interested in a group-buy of these plans and sign up 10-30 people at once? As the '08s are coming up on warranty end seems like the perfect time to me, and my profile is current......

Would the extended warrant plan cover things like if the seat bolsters start to give out and like if leather starts to tear or get worn out? or is it only mechanical stuff?

Also interested in a good priced option, from BMW or not, group buy or not.

Any referrals to 3rd party should be more than just "go to X, they're great". I would like a real story of real satisfaction with a given supplier. There are so many scam and overpriced warranties on cars, electronics, homes, everything. Let's identify reputable plans fron reputable suppliers.

Generally interior or exterior trim is not covered on extended warranties unless something that was covered caused it to get damaged.

6k+ not worth it imo...u can buy 2 brand new DCTs with that kinda money...so to get your 6k worth, u really need 3 DCT replacements during the life of your M...at that point, just pay out of pocket would be cheaper than 6K warranty i think
