My wife saw a 135 the other day and said aloud.... "Awe that BMW is soooo cuuute." I haven't heard her talk like that about anything except for the pugs she used to have. Nuff said.

If the 1 would have been as light as BMW led us to believe it would be, I would be driving that now. Instead, they f'ed it up and made it fatter than it should be. I don't care about looks, of course, as I drive an E90. I personally think the E90 is uglier than the E82, but whatever....

They're both great cars. I'd do either.

QFT. I do drive a 1, but I could feel the 200lb difference personally, but the outside dimensions where even more of a concern. I also figured more performance parts would be available for the 1er long run, as more people would use them for club racing. Seems to be holding true thus far, with TC Kline working on some serious parts, along with Berk and a few others.

They drive and they feel VERY different, if you have not got to drive both of them your doing yourself a disservice

PS, the E82 is ugly
PPS, the E9x is ugly, and bigger and heavier, I guess that means there's more ugly?

The E90 is not a looker, but I think the E92 is a beautiful car. I loved it the first time I saw it. The 135i on the other hand really grew on me. The only thing that bothered me about the 135i was the headlights. I think the rest of the car looks pretty good. It's not sleek by any means, but it has a nice stance. Almost muscular.

I'm not really into the E90 looks especially the front and rear end treatments. The E92 however is very nice looking. Sleak and modern.

The E82 and E88 are a throwback BMW style. It grows on you but is not necessarily a looker when you first see it.

Regardless, the E9x and E82/88 are still great vehicles.

To the original post, yes, the stock 135i is faster than the SSTT 335i when it's a single driver in each car with manuals in both cars as well. It's not much faster, but the 335i can't catch up at any speed (so I guess the 135's pug face doesn't hurt it that much aerodymamically)
To the rest of the argument, my 135i certainly isn't a looker, but I still chose it over the 335i (same price with the 3 series discounts). The handling is crisper but less predictable than the 335i, but the size sold me on the 1 series. Both cars are certainly overweight, but that's a standard feature in almost all cars nowadays. It's a personal decision in the end with both cars having their own appeal.

to correct you just a little

the 135i is not faster than a 335i with SSTT unless you weigh the 335 down in addition...they should be about on par with each other, stock 135's dont do any running away from 335i's...

as far as how this entire thread has become a discussion over looks and whether one is better than the other etc. Looks are subjective, everyone likes different things. While I may not like the styling of the 135 vs the 335, and some aspects of the 135 I really dont like, in general, in my own opinion, in person its not too bad. But thats an opinion, not a fact

the 335i is a nicer vehicle than the 135i, feature wise/size wise as far as pricing goes, I think this is reflected. That doesnt mean that owning a 135i gives you a smaller penis.

we all drive a car with the same basic engine, why not just enjoy it? The 135 is a bit lighter than the 335, but lacks the wheelbase for the same beneficial weight transfer as a slightly larger 335 in a drag strip, thus the very similar drag times that you see. A marginal percentage of us bought these cars for drag racing, if you wanted a drag car, you got the wrong one. We wanted fast cars, that were nice, and thats what you got. The .1 second difference in a drag strip is statistically insignificant, both cars are pretty much just as quick as each other.

Stop the pissing fest

The 335i is nicer based on features alone, but size is purely subjective. Personally, I think the 3-series has gotten way too big, which is why I opted for the 135i coupe myself. But there's no doubt you get a little more BMW refinement with the 3.

Even the 1er doesn't even come close to the tossability of my old E30....

Well, the materials look and feel different in the interior trim of the 1. Not to mention the fact that there is at least one place where it looks like they just forgot to design any trim at all....

I've sat in both side by side, there's almost zero different

unless you play drums on your dash, the 1's middle part is hollow where the nav goes, on cars that dont have nav

I did not think they felt any different

and that little bit of trim that's missing looks stupid to go there anyway

Well regardless of whether or not putting a trim piece there would have helped, it looks like they had a deadline to meet and just didn't design that part of the cabin in time, so they went with an unfinished product. Or it kind of looks like they were planning on a wider glove box, but were surprised when it arrived 3" too narrow....

I know, I love the award winning dash of the E90/2.

You're really doing a great job of trolling. Keep up the good work.
