The pass for the lead - M3 race car
In the video you can see me chasing down a Porsche 993 during a NASA race at Autobahn Country Club. During the weekend we set the track record for south track at 1.32.777 for a NASA GTS-3 car. Enjoy the video!

DAMNIT! I definitely wasn't expecting that. That 993 seemed to be busting his ass to get you off him, too. Good run, though.

Nice Vids! Thanks for sharing. Looks like you guys had a good race going on, unfortunate that he punted you after the pass but glad everything worked out and everyone was ok.

Great videos, especially the first. Was there a mix of classes running at the same time? You and the 993 in the first video seemed to be absolutely driving around everyone else! At around 1:18 in the first video, you and the 993 go around a white ?Mustang. The 993's transition in doing the pass is so fast it's unbelievable that he catches it before it becomes a tank-slapper! Good stuff. I see VS Motorsports' E92 in the paddock in the second video, and you have a VS banner on your windshield. Are they your main sponsor? I love the BMW sticker on the 2x4 you're using to prop the hood in the second video. Great driving! Club racing is obviously just so far above and beyond doing HPDE events. The closeness of the cars, the necessity of driving off line, the skill of completing a pass or keeping yourself from being passed...it's just amazing. Thanks for posting.

We race in the German Touring Series (GTS). Most of the time we end up catching the cars that start the race with us such as new Vipers, mustangs, and many other cars. VS Motorsports built the car, it is only fair to run the banner. Before this race we were at Nationals at Mid-Ohio and we finished in 3rd for GTS-3 and that felt like a pro race instead of a club race. Here is a link from our live broadcast of the race at Mid-Ohio: http://speedcasttv.com/#/races/299 |

Sure buddy
I think it's crazy how many amateur racers straight out lie about their whp and weight to make a certain class.... it defeats the whole purpose of having classes. I see this in NASA and BMWCCA. But whatever, have fun man and keep it safe |

NASA events in the Mid-Atl area have a dyno and scale at the event. Hard to BS with impound and measurements.

We all have impound stickers on each NASA GTS car stating your rwhp and weight. Mine on the sticker says 275 and weight on the sticker is at 3010. I usually end up weighing 50-60 pounds over. Most people are around 275-280 rwhp with their e46 M3 on the epic tune.
So there was no lie there buddy |

Now with NASA and BMWCCA most e46m3s are in GTS4 due to the 330+ rwhp and 2900 race weight. As long as your sticker makes you feel good, but from what I see in that Video, (and by the way, your braking and turn in points and lines were much better then that nervous 993 in front of you = u r the better driver there... and I would have been very nervous passing him) looks more like your at approx 300+ rwhp and from your change of direction I would say that your weight is about what you say, maybe a bit less. BTW, Randy tunes s54s with bolt ons for 320rwhp all day. 270-280 rwhp is what an OE e46m3 with OE headers/cats does out of the box.... and I assume you have some mods, no? Basically, what youre saying is, that the top 3 finishers at NASA nationals were cheaters? Here is one of my latest blog posts sure to fire off some cheater talk from ya... turned 202.55s at Watkins Glen in GTS3. Look at the YouTube link (crap quality), but I guess I only have cheater horsepower in the corners? Those Vettes Im chasing down make 360+ rwhp and they sure do pull away like they have 80hp on me, not 30. In another blog post, I also delve into data. http://brakeswapracing.blogspot.com/...asa-recap.html Occasionally I do have to entertain these cheater-type threads. Typically I don't even get involved since the outcome never works out. The guy accusing never really accepts it and I waste all my time posting. See similar thread here at about post #381. I reply in #386... Im not going to do the same here, but Im sure data would back it all up. People were accusing Randy (of EPIC) cheating too, until they slapped a black box on his car, as well as his competition, and it clearly showed braking points being later, as well as corner speeds being 5MPH faster. Sure, he was cheating too... http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...hos-in-26.html Lastly, I will say that Ive only met Stephen 2-3 times now and he seems like a super respectable dude. His car did not pull mine at all anywhere at Nationals. Pretty sure he was impounded at least once on the dyno too. He has improved quite a bit and you can see that in the corners, where you can have all the power you want, but the min. corner speeds dont change Last edited by magnetic1; 10-09-2012 at 08:23 AM.. |
