Yeah, just hit the red line, not even the redline, the shift lights turned red, for few seconds, still going easy on the engine, actually I don't even know where can I drive at those kind of speeds in the area around me. Just on the highway on/off.

It's weird how my copy says 5,500rpm instead of 4,500

Since I just picked-up my 2011 M3 used last month and didn't do this myself, can anybody tell me how "invasive" the reminders from the car were (message on the Nav screen?, "!" triangle on the center display?)?

Also, how much of an emphasis did your salesman/dealership put on the importance of having this service performed in a timely fashion? I've read about it in the manual, but they don't disclaim it with hellfire and brimstone levels of importance.

Lastly, anybody go much beyond the car calling for the break-in service and have it call the mothership by TeleService such that you got a reminder call from BMW or the dealership?

Just curious...

Thanks!

You may be looking at an earlier issue mine is 03/2012

you can download the latest one here ---> Click then select your e9x

Those files get revised ... having worked in engineering all my life we constantly revised things not a day went by without it

However, in this case there are 2 different numbers (owners manual 4,500 and in the supplementary manual it states 5,500) to be on the safe side I used the 4,500 number during my break in period.

You can look up the supplementary manual here ----> CLICK to open

Can anybody comment on the questions above for those of us that are buying used and aren't dealing with this ourselves...?

Thanks!

Heck, I'd throw some money at an option that had a "M Pre Break-In" that promised the car had been broken to perfect M specs by M drivers/ engineers and is ready to drive to 8400 rpm out the gates!
This is genius idea!
