lol I saw that fight and was thinking "yeah Andre!!! beat his ass!!" Just in case anyone doesn't know, Andre Johnson is a HUGE freaking guy!! Cortland has annoyed me in the past a lot and I was glad that he got his ass kicked. I hope Andre doesn't get too much of a fine though. I saw the locker room meeting afterward and he was pretty apologetic to his team.

+1

He's actually a pretty humble guy. I've followed him since his glory days at Miami and he was never much of a showboater. He's great, he knows it, and he usually lets his performance on the field show it.

When's the last time you saw anyone throw an uppercut?

Texans v. Titans should be a Sunday/Monday night game every year. Every year they play, there's a fight.

I hate the Titans. Although I like Jeff Fisher.

r.
I'm confused.... Do you mean on the field, during a major sporting event? Or in public? Which is completely different. Andre threw more than just an upper cut. I am sorry if I am not completely unphased when I see two football players having a hockey fight on the football field.

Not to mention, the rest of the world shared my view. I also don't go around looking for people to uppercut. But to each their own. I enjoy MMA and boxing, but not during football games.

Cheering for Gore tonight. I am down by 27 points this week and gore is my RB.

That's such bullshit if they were doled out equal punishment. AJ should receive a fine whereas Pauly D should get a heftier one along with a 1-game suspension based on history

Guess you're fucked from here on out:

Quote:
If the 49ers are going to make a run at the NFC West title, they'll have to do it without the centerpiece of their offense.

A source with knowledge of the situation revealed that running back Frank Gore's season is over after cracking his hip early in San Francisco's 27-6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.

Gore had runs of 25 and 15 yards on San Francisco's opening possession, but went out later in the drive. He returned for two plays to start the next drive, but spent the rest of the first half on the sideline without his helmet.

The 49ers announced in the third quarter that Gore wouldn't return for the second half. He had 52 yards on five carries before getting hurt. Veteran Brian Westbrook received his first extended playing time of the season in Gore's absence, rushing for 136 yards and a touchdown.

Gore's injury comes at a terrible time for the Niners, who have won four of their last six games to pull within one game of the St. Louis Rams in the NFC West.

With quarterback unrest serving as a running subplot in San Francisco's season, Gore has been the unquestioned focus of the offensive attack. In 11 games, the Miami product had 1,305 total yards and five touchdowns, numbers that will in all likelihood represent his final totals of the 2010 season.

Just in general...I don't watch MMA or boxing so I couldn't tell you about that.

No there isn't a place for it in sports, but I have absolutely zero problem with it. Finnegan pushes the envelope every week and it was only a matter of time before someone did what andre did.

They've been playing sound clips from a radio show Finnegan co-hosts where he lies about everything. He claims plays are dead as soon as helmets come off. But wait Cortland, you were just fine for trying to go after a guy twice your size, after a play was dead and whose helmet happened to be off.

He also said that he was just "quick jamming" Andre. Which from all the reports I've heard, quick jamming does not involve a shot to the throat.

For andre to go off like he did Finnegan went above and beyond to get punked.

MNF comments were great:

Keyshawn Johnson: "Cortland who?"

Mike Ditka: "Im glad Andre did what he did."

And so am I. I think Finnegan should have been suspended to prove to him he's the instigator and needs to learn to play ball without being a little mosquito.

I don't disagree with a single thing you just said... Finnegan is an animal. Johnson is what every fan hopes their #1 wide receiver will be. I enjoyed watching him get his ass kicked... But come on.. Johnson wanted to take his head off. I really thought they would both at least be suspended. I mean Goodell is setting a pretty scary precedent. Finnegan should have been suspended simply because of his past.

My fantasy team yesterday..... Dez Bryant injured early.. looks like fracture... Ben Obomanu catches 2 passes for 40 yards in 1st qtr, but on the second catch he gets his clock cleaned, he's out. First play of the game last night for batlimore throw to Todd Heap down the seam and he pulls hammy. SOMEHOW, I am still leading in my match-up by 9 points with only Danny Woodhead left to play. I win this, I go to the Playoffs. Only problem is the team I am going into the playoffs with is completely decimated by injuries.

Just curious if anyone else here wanted to weigh in on the sissification of the game lately. You can't hit a QB high, you can't hit him low, you can't hit him in the back, if you hit someone violently, whether it's clean or not, you're risking a penalty just because of the league's sudden obsession with safety...

I understand the helmet to helmet contact. Don't get me wrong; that and intentional blows to the head just don't belong in the game, but has anyone noticed how touchy they've been with enforcing these rules?

And what's this shit about a "defenseless receiver"? FFS, a big part of the game forever has been the ability for a good defense to scare the shit out of receivers going over the middle. It's football.... Granted, if the pass is nowhere near being caught, and the defender is just taking a free shot, that needs to be called, but on a play where the football is there or just arriving, you know as a receiver that you're about to take a shot.... It's just an occupational hazard. I'm not sure I want to see the implementation of rule sets that will increase the number of prima donnas out there on the field.

Safety is an issue, yeah.... I agree with that. But it's not like these guys are making minimum wage, and it's not like they didn't know what football was before suiting up....

Chiefs!!! Finally we're having a good season, although they didn't play their best against the Denver Ponies, still got the W. Kansas City has one respectable sports franchise, at least for a little while.
