Well after driving the car for almost a week and going through 2.5 tanks of fuel I am averaging 19 mpg. Not too bad at all. Way better than the X5 and better than I was expecting. It will drastically reduce when I don't have to cart the family around in it though lol.

Fuel economy is how you drive it. I drive in S mode and shift around 4k all day long. That gets me like 13-14 city. I switched to D for a day or two and my mileage was about 15-16. The D mode was shifitng at 2500 and below and was shifting up to 6th gear when usually I would only be in 4th.

For mix of highway and city, I get about 14-15. But that includes 75-90mph on the highway(welcome to Chicago) and I always run it up to 7-8k rpms when merging onto the highway make sure I keep the engine happy and clean.

The other part to consider is what is your City driving. Stoplight/stopsign every 1/2 mile or stoplight every 4 to 5 miles. My city driving is 40 max with lots of stop signs and stoplights so that keeps the mpg low.

Amazed at some of the figures here. I average 11 in the city and 14 overall. On long hwy trips I averaged 19-19.9999 (not quite 20) lol.

Good to know that the mileage is worse than a truck LOL.

16mpg on the gauge yet I stopped caring about it, realistically its around 14-15mpg. The range read out is quite optimistic filling up after a long highway drive, then starts going down too quick. Cruising at 75mph it gets 20mpg although doesnt show unless I recently reset the mpg. City driving I would say around 5-13mpg depending on my right foot.. Stop & go traffic with ac on a hot day probaby -5mpg. besides all this I still drive it more then my other two 6 cyl cars. It gets simlar mpg as my e28 m5 with 200 more HP and lasts longer due to the bigger tank.

When I first got the car, the total miles per tank read out would be 325miles or so and drop quickly...literally 3mile blocks in a couple blocks.

Now when I fill it it'll say 200 miles total.

But yes, who cares!

I use BP 93 and haven't reset my average mpg computer in a few hundred miles. I do have a bit of highway in there. Shows 12.5mpg. Eesh.
Yes it is a DCT and on the highway, I am mostly in cruise mode doing 75-80 mph. In the city driving I have occasional spurts of red lining but on average I am not really beating on it as much.

This sounds about right to me. Once you hit an average of about 80 mph the mileage drops of significantly. I run the PA turnpike a couple of times a month at a pretty steady 22 mpg at a true 75-77 mph (not counting the xxx mph bursts). If I average a little over 80 mph the mileage drops to right around 20.

BTW, I believe my DCT car got slightly better mileage than the current 6sp car.

When trying to get good fuel economy I could average 18-22MPG with 75% Highway. When I just didn't care and wanted to have fun I'd be anywhere from 14-18MPG

during my trip to NY, I filled up full tank before I left and about 1/5" before the halfway hash on the fuel gauge, I traveled 181 miles. So it's about 24 MPG at roughly 65-70mph for me

I averaged 19-20 out of various E9X M3's, but I also drove conservatively majority of the time.

As e93 drivers living in a 91 octane state, I suspect we're at the bottom of the m3 fuel economy list. But thanks for making me feel better about my 14.1 in mixed (but spirited) driving.
