"Tail of the Dragon" Trip (3) M3's

M3Poster's studentloan, nstanovic and ringmeister made the trip from New York to North Carolina to what has to be one of the best roads in America, US129 aka "Tail of the Dragon". 313 corners in 11 miles has been on my mind for years and finally over the weekend we took our M3's to challenge the myth of this road. We weren't disappointed!

We meet at Vince Lombardi Service Station New Jersey Friday morning and made a 780+ drive to Robbinsville North Carolina, home of The Dragon. We had cool temps and bright sun most of the weekend, perfect for power and comfort. Every moment of the weekend has intense, exciting and fun. Tons and tons of stories.

How bad was traffic? I've only been there once and was lucky (or unlucky) that it rained, so traffic wasn't bad.

IMHO, that road is a little too touristy. Too many cops, too many minivans. There are some roads that are just as good not too far from there in NC. Well worth checking those roads on the Blue Ridge Parkway next time.

Cars look great though

Yup. He was totally cool. His issue wasn't speeding but giving the bikers room for full lean in turns. He just wanted us to stay away from crossing or touching the yellow line. Let us go with a warning. The ride from NY to NC, well that's another story.

Cars look great though

We ran the road 6 times. No traffic and one cop that was friendly. We had 1 or 2 instances where there was a truck in front of us but he pulled over after a turn or 2. Having Alex up your ass isn't pleasant.
