I know there are variables involved here, but can anyone provide me with a range of the kind of tire life I can expect, especially on the rear? I drive mostly in the city and relatively routine highway trips (1-2 hrs every once in a while). I was reading some c63 AMG forums and people were saying they changed their rears after 7-9k miles. That's absolutely crazy to me, I'd be changing them every year.

Is the M3 more reasonable?

in all seriousness though, my car is too new and I rotate between summer and winter, so it's hard for me to say.

It's going to depend hugely on how you drive. I'm curious why my car, 2011 ZCP e90 M3, came with P-zero's while I thought they came with super soft conti's or something.

I seem to be lucky with tires! My 911 got 13,000 from the rears, the fronts would have done 20K. Those were PS2s
My E46 M3 got 20K front and rear on PS1s


I don't track my street tires but I do a 2 day autocross school (evolution school) each year with about 40 runs per day. It beats the outer edge up, but otherwise the tires are fine.

This is really an unanswerable question my friend. It all depends on your driving style and how well you keep an eye on your tire pressure.

Your best source of feedback IMHO would be ... go to TireRack, select your tire and check out what other M3 drivers get and say about the tire you are running.

Ballpark number would be 8K to 12K miles again all depending how you drive (if you get more let us know all the power to you).

I do the same, I just record the milage when the winter set is mounted in the fall and then removed in the spring Then I know what it is

My rears are almost due and I am barely at 5k miles some autobahn @ 275kph, mostly twisty back roads though. So ya, it varies.

Your speed reminds me when my brother in law takes me to the Frankfurt airport on the Autobahn in his little sports car and the windshield wipers move back and forth violently then I know without checking his odometer that he is doing 275 KPH too.

I think that 15K would be the outside of spirited style driving, and perhaps 18K with good reasonable driving. Difficult to "old lady drive" this car.

I believe TireRack list the PS2s with a warranty of 10,000 miles less spirited driving.

I am in the mid-Atlantic region. My car is a 2011 M3 and it is a daily driver. I drive it in commuter mode about~75% of the time. The remainder of the time I drive as if like I stole it. I came equipped with the Pirelli P-Zeros. The tires have almost 6K miles on them. The rears will need replacement within the next 1K miles. I would expect to get another 3-4K from the fronts. I will be replacing all 4 with Pilot Super Sports very soon.

So far, 8,000 out of my first set of rears, 13,000 and still going on my second set of rears, 20,000 on my first set of fronts. All michelin PS2

Normal range is ~7.5-20k depending on how you drive, the model of tire, and your alignment. lots of rear toe in (.18 deg) from the factory on my car. took it down a bit. this can kill tires. so can driving on the track, spinning tires, accelerating fast from a stop, drifting. the harder you drive = the more frequent your tire replacements will be. i heard some guy got 30k out of his rears but i am thinking that was 95% freeway driving.

About the same for me and my 997S, I got 13k miles out of the PZeros. However, at the end of their life they were so noisy and scary when they broke loose, suggesting that I should have changed them a few thousand miles before.

As to the OP, you can expect to get about the same from the M3 for the rears. I just replaced my rear Invos at 13k miles and from my understanding with the OEM Contis it would have been about the same. My fronts look to have more than 1/2 the tread depth left.

Two weeks ago I finally replaced the rear PS2 19" set at 22,500 miles on my E92 M3. The replacements are 275/35 R 19 Super Sports. I have the new front set, but still have about two months left before they will be needed. With 3.5 years (6500 miles per year) of use I have been very easy on the car which is a daily driver. I am lucky to live where the weather and roads are very easy on the tires.

Not to be a total smart ass, but they'll last until they wear out. If you drive with maximum tire life as a priority, I'm sure you can get at least 20K miles from the rears, and more from the fronts. But, if you achieve that, I would question why you bought the car. 8K-12K would be a realistic average for rears, more from the fronts.

I am still on the original CS3 rears - 20k and need replacement. mostly highway, no track, driven hard occasionally.

My 2011 ZCP has about 11,000 miles on the original PS2's so far. Like Doc John, my outside edges are beat up from autocrossing, but the rears still have about 30% left.
