install is finished. cant say it was very fun. did it in my garage on stands which i knew would be a pain. all went together fine just a lot of climbing under the car and getting back out for other tools and such. not sure if i have any leaks yet. started it up on the stands and the cold start procedure sounds awesome. then once it was warm couldnt tell much of a difference at idle but sounds significantly different when given throttle. sounds pretty sweet to me so far will have to take it for a shake down run and see how i feel about it. next week in goes the evolve then i should feel the gains!

just did a quick drive around with it. it is significantly louder which kind of surprised me. lot more volume than i expected, gf wont like that too much. sounds good to me but will take some getting used to for sure. notice more popping when i let off and coast then before, it was there then too just more pronounced now. will have to see how i feel about it after a couple hundred miles of use. probably should get back under there and retighten everything as well.

Looking to do the same thing. Sport xpipe with stock exhaust, maybe even going with the race. Are u hearing any rasp? Love to hear your current setup when u get some time. Looking to hear about your tune too.

Yeah there is some rasp that wasn't there before but I have also never heard my car from anywhere but the drivers seat. Its quite a bit louder. I need some more seat time to see how I really feel. Gonna drive it to work today that will give me a chance.

Thanks for the write-up. I just picked one up too from another fellow member here. I can't wait to get it and have it installed. Goodbye primary cats!

Well I drove it to work today about 30 miles and its louder at all speeds but primarily noticable at slower around town driving. I was worried once I was on the freeway it would be annoying. Its not. There is some extra volume but with the stereo on its not intrusive at all. Little drone but pretty low amount. There is also smell of raw gas if outside the car while its running but this too is not bad. Used to my mustang which is horrible. Now I need to hear it on a driveby or something to get a real sense of what its like.

not sure i feel any gains but i havent had a real chance to get after it too hard. i was entering the freeway in 3rd at about 60, so about 4000 rpms and stood on it until it felt like turbos kicked in at 6500. felt like it pulled harder in that upper rpm range but hard to decifer the extra noise which tricks you into thinking its faster and my actual butt dyno. did get the dreaded cel on the way home surprise. also got a weird resonance or something in an uphill section going 2950 rpms or so and sounded pretty bad like civic coffee can bad?

Nice exhaust. I didn't like the stock muffler with my fabspeed setup. Sounded farty at low RPMs when getting going - like around town and in parking garages. Sounds like this might be what you are describing with your civic comment. Various aftermarket mufflers should minimize or remove that sound though.

Popping should also go down dramatically as the ECU adjusts fuel...at least that was my experience.

The popping I don't mind the farty civic sound I do. Was hoping to avoid dropping more cash on an axle back.good thought about the parking garage. Will have to find one and see how it sounds a little more.

I had the same thought, then 3k+ later I had an akra...

; (

: )

Not sure which smiley to use...

But there are others that will do the trick also - I just think the stock muffler is perfectly tuned for the stock exhaust. Just doesn't sound too hot if you replace the whole front section.

Thanks for sharing the experience thus far. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the Evolve tune.

Any plans for a dyno?

I don't have a before dyno but am thinking about getting one done after the evolve tune. Hoping for 350 to 360 at the wheels would be nice.

Just a little update. Drove my car last night to meet up with a few friends and had them listen as I took off. Not warm so short shift at 4000 or so and they both said it sounded really good. At least I know it doesn't sound like a coffee canned civic. Also my evolve cable came and was part of a batch that was bad but paul was great and will be getting a second tune however I want for free as well as parts discount. Great service.

I bet it sounds great! Sorry to hear about the faulty evolve-R. Paul and the rest of the crew at Evolve have top customer service, so no doubt they'll take care of you!

Thanks for the update!

Buddy of mine just paired up the Challenge Sport X-pipe with Meistershaft GT and all I can say is it's the best sounding combo I've heard as of yet...now I am trying to decide if I should go Challenge Race or Sport when I get mine...tough decision because the Sport is louder than expected and the quality is top notch...
