30k service - what does it consist of?

Hey fellas,

The car just turned 29k and the service indicator is popping up.

Does anyone have the official list of stuff that's to be performed?

I've searched but came up to conflicting info. Some threads mention spark plugs, others don't. Same thing with the transmission fluid.

I'd like to know -aside from the visual inspection- what is actually replaced.

Thanks

-Kevin

I just had mine done two weeks ago, mileage was at 32,000 at Hendrick BMW in Charlotte.
1) Oil change
2) Rear diff oil change
3) Inspection (whatever that is)
4) Software update (if I had known what changes this would bring, I'd not do it again).
5) Spark plug change
6) Warranty replacement of faulty washer fluid level sensor

I have DCT so no trans fluid change

Hi Victor,

Thanks for your input. This forum is so slow compared to M3F (E46 crowd)

I called the dealership to make an appointment and they told me the 30k inspection is just an oil change... *sigh*

Would you happen to have an official document/bulletin or something that shows that it is NOT just an oil change.

TIA

Sorry no "official" document. Some of this is strategic.
1) For the rear diff oil change, I told them that my rear diff was making noise going around corners (it was, but it wasn't bad) - they changed diff oil.
2) Spark plugs I'm not sure why they did them so early. The owner's manual says 37,000 miles

I think the "inspection" which my car said was due is a top-bottom inspection but my service note didn't say what they did or inspected. Good luck with your service

BMW does not go by mileage service.

Its condition based. IE how many miles you drive and how hard you drive the car or by time.

On your 3rd oil service(right around 30K usually) it prompts to replace the engine air filter, diff fluid and spark plugs at 30K miles, I also believe manual trans fluid.

Took my car in due to the brake sensor going off, I have 32k. Service guy told me that the M models service at different times. I guess there isn't a 30k servicing for the M. I was offered a free oil change due to me not having done so under warranty.
