radar detector
I have my speed limit warning set at 80mph and it went off at least 15 times today. I quess I need a radar detector, since I can't drive 55. Any suggestions on the units that have worked best for you. Thanks.

Man I just went through the same thing.......
I purchased both the V1 & 9500ix. Keep in mind I live in a very populated area and there are banks and/or stores with auto doors on every corner and BOTH go off all the time and Dont Shut Up. I like that in the 9500ix it learns the frequcny and the GPS Cordinates of them and then soon ignores it. Hopefully in the near future the 9500ix will be fairly quite with false alarms in the areas i drive most. On the Other hand the V1 is alot more sensitive and will detect the Bands from a farther distance BUT does seems to make even more noice in my area. I personally am choosing the 9500ix But both are good. it depends on where you live and the roads you drive on. The V1 on the Highway was nice barely any falses and picked up the cops nice and quick. If you purchase them Direct youll have a 30day to return for a full refund.

I'm in the same boat. Split between V1 and 9500ci. Reading a lot of the threads. As I said in one of them, it seems to come down to personal preference, 50-50 split. Sensitivity and Arrows vs. GPS and Laser Jammer.
Any further input, I'm all ears.... I'm going to need it. Don't think my Rx65 is the answer.

I went through three V1's already and two of them were stolen I love the thing
But since its gone I decided to buy the 9500ix and I will see how it does. I'm still going to miss the arrows on her tho, but we'll see down the line if I switch back |

Not really. Mike Valentine, the owner/founder of Valentine One, was also a founder and engineer at Escort. He left Escort to create Valentine One.

So far, I'm leaning towards 9500. Probably ci... Still have questions about mounting shifters. Yes or no behind the grill? And 360 degree detection (can't believe that Escort would have a premier model that didn't perform as well as their windshield models)? But that's another thread...

http://guysoflidar.com/july-2008/laser-jammer-test.html http://www.laser-interceptorusa.com/ Correct way to mount a laser jammer: http://www.laser-interceptorusa.com/715.html "Divide the middle of the vehicle in two parts. The LASER INTERCEPTOR has two units which is to be mounted on the front of the vehicle between the headlights. Install one unit in the first half and the other one in the second half as showed in the picture below. The two laser transceivers are mounted on the front of the vehicle, normally within the front grill, 40cm to 70cm apart. The lens (bubbles) have to be facing outwards, and the fastening eyes have to be secured on the body of the vehicle. There must not be any obstacles in front of the lenses; otherwise, the device will not work optimally." This is the Laser Interceptor forum that shows you where to mount it on a BMW. http://85.125.82.130/LaserIntercepto...php?board=36.0 |

Response to RadarKing
Thanks, RadarKing. That helps... a lot.
When you get the 9500ci, doesn't it come with the ZR4? Can you order it without and go with Laser Interceptors (I had read that Guys of Lidar article)?

You can't order the Escort 9500ci without the ZR4 laser jammer but you can either turn it off or put it in receive only mode so that it only detects laser and doesn't attempt to jam it. I believe the default setting for the Escort 9500ci's ZR4 is receive mode and you have to change the setting to jam mode. Some people have had problems with multiple laser jammers messing with each other or "cross-talk" as they call it. You might want to consider turning it off if you are going to be running a Laser Interceptor which can more than handle any laser threat by itself.

Actually it would be nice if a top notch brand manufacturing radar detectors (such as these mentioned above) would form an alliance with a top notch brand making laser jammers (eg Laser Pro Park, Laser Interceptor etc) in order to create a 2 in 1 package offering laser jamming & radar detection capabilities!
