New Track Tire Option
Dunlop has recently expanded their offerings for the SP Sport Maxx Race, which is a DOT legal track tire that can be driven on the street.
Originally introduced on the CLK 63 Black Series, they now offer a variety of 19" sizes. Sizes of particular interest for M3: 245/35R19 255/35R19 265/35R19 285/30R19 These tires are a class up from Extreme Performance tires like the AD08. They are more track focused and have less longevity on the street. I have not seen any detailed testing yet to compare them to potential rivals like the P-Zero Corsa or the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. I did receive feedback from a customer who said that they were the best tire in this class right now. These tires are not cheap, running $400-$700 per tire depending on size. The 255/35R19 and 285/30R19 are toward the higher end of the spectrum since they are the AMG original equipment sizes. These are definitely not a tire that is for everyone given that they are expensive and have limited tread life, but if you have a set of track wheels or only take your M3 out to drive for fun, this is probably about as sticky as you can get for a streetable tire.

Do you know what sizes? I haven't seen anything official on that yet, and none of the part #s we have so far have N-Spec (Porsche OE) branding.
They do make 235/35R19 and 305/30R19, which are the sizes on the 2013 Turbo.

Aha, thanks. Those are not in our system yet, but I expect we will have them when they come into full-scale production.

RE11A is only available in limited sizes this year. The largest is 245/40R18. The sizes are primarily aimed at specific autocross classes.

Ben, maybe you can help me. I hate to bring the old thread back, but this might help several of us. Looking for some drag radials or semi slicks for drag racing for my F10 m5.
Right now the car has 20" wheels, but I bought 19's for the rear and trying to find something that fits. Diameter now is 27.2 so need to find something around there in 19" size. Let me know what you have.

Here are some of the stickiest tires in the size. All are DOT legal, though some are not truly intended for street use. They go roughly in order from most streetable to least. Conti ForceContact: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....&affiliate=AW8 Dunlop Sport Max Race: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....&affiliate=AW8 Toyo Proxes R888: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....&affiliate=AW8 Hoosier A6: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....&affiliate=AW8 All of the above are nice and sticky. The Continental and the Dunlop are about equally street-friendly, and are intended for some street use. The Hoosier and Toyo are not, though some have done it. Pilot sport cup and Pirelli Corsa system are also available, but for drag racing purposes, you're spending more without gaining noticeably in launch traction over some of the other options. If you wanted something streetable and the Dunlop and Conti were backordered, you could consider those.
