I saw this earlier today as well. I would love to own this. I didn't know what the P-car hype was all about until I drove a Cayman R.

Good price, but "minor oil leak" at the rear main seal? I know these engines can have these seal issues, but that's a concern that it hasn't been addressed.

Also interesting is the claim that the salvage title status is due to the driver's airbag being deployed in an accident. Last year my wife's then-new 328i suffered $22,000 worth of damage (MSRP of the car $42k), including driver's airbag deployment, passenger side curtain airbag deployment, hood, fender, suspension and wheel damage when an idiot kid plowed into her while performing an illegal U-turn. The car was not totaled or salvaged. Five weeks later we had it back on the road with a clean title.

Not to mention he just bought it. Which to me means he had the wool pulled over his eyes, now he's starting to see issues with the prior repairs. Last I checked 130k cars don't get totaled from an airbag deployment.
Don't walk, run from this deal.

+1, but I'd consider it fair'ish deal because of the mods.

Gen 1 GT3 w/ clean title, no mechanical issues and 1/2 the miles can be had for ~$70k nowadays. A part of me can see the appeal/wisdom of buying an imperfect version straightaway for track use though, and not having to worry about aesthetic upkeep.

Guy from GMG had this to say about the RMS leak --

We have serviced dozes of cars with RMS leaks and repaired the issues even when dealers have not been able to.

There is no "problem" with the engine or car other than the pesky seal itself.

If you are considering a car that has a RMS leak its not a big deal especially if you can negotiate the price of repair into the price of the car, mostly all my customers have upgraded the clutch when having the RMS seal serviced.

Happy to help if you need some advice on the issue feel free to drop me a line.

I wouldn't touch that thing. Plus, once you drive it on the track you will still realize its a street car. It will drive decent on the track but would be miserable on the street. Plus you already know the problems it has.

If youre going to spend that much, why not just by the real deal?

That 92 porsche would rape that 997 gt3.

The GT3 is a much more well rounded car. There's a reason that the turbos are not the best track car. Too Jeckle and Hyde for most people, including myself.
