Correct. I wouldn't say it'll harm the paint, but certainly not worth any money.

The product does not deliver what it promises, used at the behest of "Managment" when I was the Head Detailer @ East Bat BMW for a short contract and we had "Many" comebacks and people were livid...... I remember clearly doing at least twenty cars at least two times.....as people would still have all the issues as if there was nothing on the finish and the dealership was charging 1,200.00$ back then!!!.

If you use this product........it will not afford the protection you are looking for and the warranty is as worthless as the detail quality you will get from the dealership, as I fix "Dealership" issues on a consistant basis and it provides steady work for all well known correction guys.

It is a "Upsell" from the finance department, so what you do with this info now is up to you as you have been made aware of the "Smoke & Mirrors" behind the scenes.

Well you've been given good advice. So don't come on here whining when you are not satisfied with the final result.

I remember back in the 90's the dealerships were trying to sell this product for upwards of $1500.00 for a wax job. Run the other way!!!

Dang... then I don't know.

Correct. Read what Bob Willis of Auto Concierge and Richie Carbone of Richie's Custom Detailing had to say. Two top-tier detailers (CA or FL respectfully) from across the nation. They only make money by factoring in how many people 1. won't come back in 2. don't have their car for more than a few years 3. don't wax their cars often enough to notice if there is or is not protection still on the finish.

Basically, they're selling you snake oil that they make 1000% profit on.

If the contract says I can't get out of it, then what's done has been done.

I'm scheduled for it on june 1.

But does it absolutely do nothing to protect the paint?

I guess now my main concern is if it will actually damage the paint, or hinder me from doing proper maintenance?

1. can I still wax over it?
2. since it's also the interior, could I still clean the interior with regular leather care products?
3. is it ok to be applied on top of my clear bra?

There is no cooling off period for the purchase of a car......but a add on upsell???, so if you are saying the perma plate package was part of the financing....then you have been had I am afraid.

A quality "New car prep" which I am doing right now on a Porsche GT3 can run by a reputable correction guy between $500-850.00 depending on the condition of the car and believe me "Brand new" means nothing as new cars are always damaged in some way everytime(At least cars I see), so with this in mind having a quality job performed to the car and Bi-annual service at least would have been the best route for the appearance and protection of your car.

Lesson learned.

the finance guy/sale person told me that this also covers swirls.

therefore later down the line, within the 5 year warranty, if there starts showing swirls, they said bring the car in and a professional detailer will come and fix that.... ?????? makes sense?

Unfortunately this is a situation where the questions you have should have been asked before you made up your mind on what to do concerning signing the paperwork, not everyone will know about everything in life and experience is the teacher usually.

The dealership is not your friend...... I forgot to mention that in the 90's @ the dealership one guy figured out pretty quick that we were not in NASA suites applying "Perma Plate" in the back the way the sales team intimated and brought his car in every month for a "FULL DETAIL"!!! and became the squeaky wheel so to speak and turned the situation around on the dealership as the finish had bird dropping marks and swirls(Black 740il) also he spilled some coffee in the interior and made us extract it(No steamer in those days)because the "Salesman" told him it would be protected......

These jobs were the equivilant of "Full corrections" I do now and I would have to work on the car and not delegate to the other guys as this customer would inspect the car with his salesman for ten minutes after we were done and point out the slightest stuff...........salesman hated this guy but inside I was laughing at how shady conduct was turned back on them.

Like any upsell the dealership counts on you being "Not informed" and takes advantage whenever and however they can, it is the "Scorpion and the frog story"......it's in thier nature.

this is what my dealer told me also.

I asked him about swirls, and he said as long as it's under the 5 year warranty, come in, and we will get rid of swirls, as they are under the protection as well.

"So this means that I can come in every time and they will get rid of swirls?"
is what I asked, and his answer was "Yes"

This is the reason why I got this in the first place. Pretty much the dealer promised me "swirl protection"

My concern is now therefore, how harmful is swirl removal, if you do it so often??
