This car really makes me want to say, "Bye Bye BMW".

Damn!
With my disappointment in the M4 that might just be my next car.

Yeah. I'm curious about this as well. That car looks so much more sporty than the M3/M4. Beautiful.

I always start looking for my next car shortly after I get one. Gives me plenty of time to research and find the right one. I'm pretty sure the next logical step is a Porsche, probably a 997.2 S, but this one is looking pretty damn good too at this point.

Haha, I'm 6'6" and 275 lbs and I sat in the new Vette and thought they were going to have to use the jaws of life to get me out.

It's going to be an epic car, hopefully they don't artificially limit it, and it's available with MT. I know this will be a better driver's car than the M2, but it'll also cost a hell of a lot more.

It's a hot look. I came from Porsche to my current M3, and while I love the M, I haven't yet been able to find the twisties fun I had in that Boxster, nor shake off the new Cayman styling- it's just a knockout. Here's where I am probably going- By the time this "GT3" Cayman is available, there will be any number of low mileage, heavily depreciated 2014 Cayman S cars available. Probably in the $60-65k range, depending on option list. FInd a manual with the right options and you could be right at $60. Always LOTS of P-car garage queens out there! With another $15,000 or so you can have a turbo kit added and some nice exterior mods for airflow management and have a car that will just about eat 911 GT3's on the track. Mid-engine, lighter, approaching 400 HP or over, power to weight ratio good as it gets, and just as hot looking as this new one. For probably $25-30k less. Just make sure you get the S, with the bigger engine. Don't know of any tuners turbocharging the base car's 2.7 liter. And if you can do without the new styling, say a 2012 or '11, you can have all of this for way less. Like out the door at $60k. Light years diff in the new vs. old look, though.

I saw somewhere that the prices will be starting around $125k, but no official word from Porsche yet.
I know the feeling of wanting a PCAR. Have had that fire in me for a long time. I just pulled the trigger on a 2013 C2S, still at the dealership waiting to be shipped. I was planning to get rid of the M3 initially but decided to keep it! Know I have best of both the M3 and a 911. |
