Customizing the headlights...
I am thinking about getting my headlights completely customized, very much like OSS did.. I want to paint the housing black, install led angel eyes, and maybe do a unique paint scheme like member gthirtyfizle did. I tried to find the OSS ones for sale, but it seems like they aren't for sale anymore? Anyone know? They charged like $550, right?
I had this done on my rover a few years back, so I am thinking I can do it for these as well... For those who have done it, what did you do the reflector portion on the side? For those who changed the angel eyes, did you just remove the entire ring structure and replace it? Or did you mount the led angel eyes on the existing rings? Any input regarding issues I should look out for would be great. Thanks!

It's cool but is it worth the $$ since no one will really notice? I ask that myself before I do anything to my car because the novelty wears off quick and honestly, people have a hard enough time distinguishing an M3 from a 3 series. We of course know right away but most people don't care or know.

very nice!! its all personal preference, if you notice it now, you will end up noticing it again. honestly, a lot of people do cosmetics is it because we like it to look a certain way. by all means, go for it!! Good luck!! post some pics when you finish!!

eclipsis... that looks great. I saw your threads about it, it sounded like it was a PITA.. What did you do to the reflectors? Any pointers of what to look out for, or what not to do? Did you do the angel eyes as well?

I would have someone experienced in baking open headlight units do the beginning of the job, otherwise you might crack the plastic housing if done incorrectly. The clear plastic is attached to the black unit with tabs and an epoxy strip, that's the part that needs to be heated properly. |
