Which Exhaust Setup Gives You The Most Gains?
I dont care about the money. and im not worried about emissions. i also dont really want the check engine light coming on either. I wanna go catless and want a system from the end of the headers all the way back. which setup will give me the most hp / tq gains???? thx in adv

I would say AA catless x pipe, their software, and their exhaust. They are one of the few that have dynos for their exhaust alone. I want to say it was about a 14hp increase for just the catback. Regardless of what brand x pipe/mid pipe setup you get if you delete the primary cats your going to have to get the car tuned in order to avoid not having a check engine light.

Excellent choice, AA. Pricey but good.
Fabspeeds dynos are just as good btw. 15hp for their Xpipe. Priced at $625 as well. Quote:

if money is no object the aa and the Akrapovic systems are looking good on numbers. if money has to be budgeted the rpi system has to be on the top of the list.

the Akrapovic quotes 24hp, and the rpi quotes 28hp, so if the O.P. is looking for straight gains why wouldn't he go with the RPI system...am i missing something? |

Because a difference of 4hp measured on different dynos and different cars is insignificant. Plus the Akrapovic has cats and resonators. The RPI doesn't. Therefore, if we are to split hairs, the Akrapovic is clearly superior.
I stand by the comment that any well designed exhaust will net about the same gains. It is not rocket science.

Any properly designed system will have very little restriction and all offer about the same HP gain. The real trick is doing that plus coming up with a nice sound and no drone at the same time.

The Akrapovic dyno graph looks 100% legit. All correction factors, run down losses etc are very consistent and it's a realistic gain.
Same goes with the Active Autowerke system, very realistic figures and again top quality. As a package the Active Autowerke system in unbeatable with it's excellent and thoroughly tested software. |
