Blinder M47 vs Escort ZR4 ... thoughts?

Now that I have my new baby (see my mother post) it is time to protect her ... I have a Valentine but I think any detector is USELESS against LIDAR. Seems that these are the two best but anyone have any experience?

I am especially interested in if it will "synch" (work with) my Valentine or do I need to the Escort "package"? Also, anyone know if these cutoff after the first 1 or 2 hits so that it does not look too suspicious

I don't know much about the escort but I've heard a lot of good things about the blinder and the laser interceptor. Plan on getting a laser interceptor sooner or later lol

Good luck on your research!

I ran an Escort 8500/ZR4 in my E46 with good results. I agree the valentine is useless (as are all detectors) against laser.

I now have an E93 and trying to decide what to do. I need a stealth install due to theft, so do I spend $1,000 for a qi45 and give up rear laser or Escorts higher end $2,000 full bore kit?

I have an '09 e93 M3 ... I saw the "full bore" escort kist advertised at my dealer for $1100 installed. Thinking hard about it but I love my Valentine. Just much cleaner/nicer when it is all integrated and as we both said ... all detectors are useless against lidar

In general, Blinder performs better than the ZR4. But the Laser Interceptor performs better than both of these. Installing any of these is not trivial.

I don't know what you mean by "sync" with the V1 but the LI is able to sound a voice alert for the V1. However, you can't mute this so I would prefer not to have the LI sound V1 alerts.

The ZR4 comes as part of the Escort 9500ci so you have both a detector and jammer in one integrated package with 9500ci.

I also take issue with the supposedly well known fact that detectors can't save you from laser. It is not likely, but entirely possible for a detector to alert to laser when it is fired at someone else. They say this happens when the laser scatters off a target. I don't know if this is true but I have been saved several times with the V1 laser alert. It will alert even before the laser operator can see me, like around curves. However, the V1 seems to be the only detector with enough laser sensitivity for this. And even then it depends on exactly where the beam hits. You can certainly be hit with laser without the detector even alerting since the beam is so small, especially close in. So, it is not something to depend upon, but every now and then it can save you as it has me.

Cheers.
