P2629 aka 274B - 02 Sensor Error

So I'm getting this code:

274B - P2629
Information saved in DME
Fault code 274B - P2629
Fault text Oxygen sensor pump current calibration fault before cat. converter, bank 2
Fault description O2 Sensor Pumping Current Trim Circuit/Open (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
Condition for fault identification Test condition: Oxygen sensor is available, oxygen sensor voltage > 4951 mV (K_LAVK_OBD_SA_DIAG_OL)
. Terminal condition: Engine running - overrun condition
. Voltage condition: none
Condition for fault memory entry after a defined SA phase the lag period K_LAVK_OBD_SA_T (2.5 sec) must be completed
Action in service 1. Check plug and wiring harness on pre-cat oxygen sensor LSVK B2 (especially trim circuit wire IA),
. 2. If OK, replace oxygen sensor
Fault effect and breakdown warning MIL lamp on after engine runs 2x /Small influence on drivability
Driver information Warning light: MIL
Service instruction None


There are a few threads on this, however, no clear or confirmed explanation for a fix. Or 'workaround'.

I have test pipes with a BPM Stage 2 Tune, but assuming there is no correlation here.

Is this the pre-cat sensor? If so, does anyone have the exact part number?

I also heard that the Bosch version can be 'faulty' or 'cheap'. Is it recommend to buy OE?

If you clear the code, does it come back right away? OBD2 systems are quite temperamental.

Bosch is a huge OEM supplier, their sensors are not faulty/cheap...not sure where you heard that. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they were one of the OEM suppliers for the sensors.

Yeah, after the next start, the code comes back.

Ordered the Bosch sensor for $89 from Amazon. Going to replace this week.

I thought the same about Bosch but have read multiple posts on here saying they were 'cheap'. Pretty sure BMW OEMs them.

Was the precat sensor. I've only driven about 20 miles, but the codes are not coming back immediately, as they were.

This was the culprit (you can see there is a massive chunk of metal missing, as well as thread marks near the top):

That looks dangerous. Use 2 jack stands please. Don't kill yourself.

The car is actually balanced enough to solely sit on the front stand. The jack was there for precaution and didn't have much (if any) weight on it. Although, two stands would probably be the best.
