Side skirt pitting - wheel well

Living in the NE and dealing with salt/gravel happy DPW is a pain. Any thoughts on how to fix/avoid the side skirt tab - the part which extends into the wheel well - from pitting.

Do I just have to learn to live with it here in the NE.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks

Mine has that too. There is no way of avoiding stones/rocks coming from the tires. You can clear bra the skirts, but you will still have some pits on the clear cover. I learned to just deal with it, it is going to happen no matter what, unless you don't drive the car. Then what was the point of buying it?

Thanks Elm. All great points. I do not feel too bad anymore. I guess the new car insanity kicked in for a moment .

I'm getting over that initial "don't want anything or anybody remotely near to my car" feeling and realizing why I bought it again: its an absolutely awesome car to drive.

After the first front lip scrape out of a damn driveway, I was incredibly pissed. But then it happened again, and again, and then that feeling of "new car - keep away!" went away and then the real driving began. Of course I take great care of it still, but it is a car, and as such needs to be driven and will incur the wear and tear of the road.

I'm totally anal about my cars but I learned pretty quickly to accept the side skirt pitting. It's inevitable. I just touch up the little nicks semi-annually when I do details and that's about it.

The good thing is that it's a piece of cake to get the very front and the bottom half of the skirts re-sprayed (and the entire skirt then re-cleared) by a body shop, should you ever want to go that route. They had to do that to one of the skirts on my old 330 after an accident, and because they only sprayed the bottom half of the skirt, the "blending" area was halfway up the skirt and there was not a paint mismatch with the door, if you see what I mean.

Luckily, I've made it 18 months with my car and have managed not to scrape the front bumper once yet...

! damn, I made it 4 days. I guess due to Florida's excessive rain in the summer, many of the parking lots on the side of the street are drastically raised from the actual street and therefore very difficult to get into and out of without scraping.

I guess the moral of the story is just be careful and enjoy the car.

If you are concerned with the paint then get the clear film applied. The film will hold up better than your paint will.

For sure... I have too much other things to worry/care about and too much fun driving my car to worry about some minor scratches out of sight, underneath my bumper....
