If you put light enough layers, it doesn't run at all. At one point I painted while the wheels were vertical and no runs occurred.

I dont know guys.... Ive used this stuff a couple times in the past but I thought it looked "cheap". I guess I can see using it for a smaller sized item (emblem, grill, vent), but doing your wheel in it? I think I would pass. The texture on it is not smooth at all. Its like really really bad orange peel. You cant touch it with a terry or micro fiber towel because it will leave lint all over it. Peeling it off is NOT as easy as some make it sound. Some items would probably peel much easier than others, but peeling a wheel would take hours! Its very coarse so I highly doubt hosing them off is going to remove brake dust. And being that you cant really wash it without risking damaging it makes me wonder why even bother? Trust me, sooner or later its going to chip or tear and your going to have to do the whole item over again. And if its a wheel, then you will probably have to do all 4 again because the color will fade over time and or brake dust is going to discolor the paint. So having one touched up wheel is going to stand out over the other older 3. This stuff is a shortcut. Its fun and all, but it doesn't hold up forever and while it can peel off, its just looks tacky... In more ways than one.

It just sound like you are not applying it properly as I was able to have it turn out with a smooth finish. With a good thick coat it peels right off. As for cleaning I just spray on a little simple green and hose them off for a perfect finish every time. |

As far as the cleaning goes, Raptor is correct. You should never even have to touch them. Spray with SG (love SG btw) and then hose off. Simple. In my case I have been using my power washer being very careful of edges etc. Works like a charm. I do agree that it can be a real bitch to get off IF you don't have a thick enough coating but this is also easily overcome by simply NOT peeling at all and just rubbing it with a micro fiber towel. It's not like your wheel will get damaged and the product flies off then. I had some overspray when I did my wifes emblems and I just rubbed gently with the micro... gone! (Would have taken forever to try to peel it) |

OMG btw... so much PD! We're going to have to have our own PD meet soon
If you go directly to plastdip.com as opposed to dipyourcar.com, they have kits to make any color you can imagine btw. Pretty crazy! I'm thinking of getting that Wagner sprayer and trying some different stuff just for fun. I think it would also go on a lot smoother and more evenly with the sprayer. Who knows, I could have hot pink wheels on Monday and midnight purple on Friday! |

haha, i'm not too worried about the removing process since the vinyl does not easily come off. It took me a good hour or so to remove just the roof piece with a heat gun accompany by a couple Coronas

Anyone found a good way to mask this stuff without it tearing or stretching it when you take the tape off?

I imagine that if you want to do a nice multi-layer job you can spray then peel the tape off before it dries and continue that same process carefully masking the same area/s each time. Might be a PITA but I think you would get a better result than the think layer which is holding up just fine in my case but the edges aren't perfect. Now on the other hand, if you're talking about dipping the emblems etc., you don't mask them too close. Leave a nice inch or so around them and spray the whole thing. Then the dip just peels off the paint and around the emblems like magic. |

im guessing this would melt into a puddle on the track. when i come off i cant check my tire pressure at times because so much heat is coming off the rotors and wheels.
