Good watch for around $1000?

Im in the market for a watch around the $1000 range. Im leaning very heavily towards Movado right now but am open to suggestion.

Criterias:

Something that suits a young (24) professional in business.
Something that could be worn with a suit and relaxed.
no leather bands, all metal only.
Not too busy or complacated design.

thanks

Lots of watches in that range that looks sharp with suits or jeans/tshirt:

Suggestions:

Tag Heuer
Movado
Montblanc (pen company that has some pretty nice watches)

I'm sure that some retailers are offering discounts right nnow that will drop an otherwise higherpricepoint into the range you're looking for.

have fun a Happy Holidays...

If you can shell out 1 more grand, you can look into the lower-end Omega watches ($2,000-$2,500) which are really nice.

Since you are going for the $1K range, i would recommand the Rolex Datejust or the Explorer for little more $$........It's classy & hold the value well just like an investment. Just like how we appreciate the BBS LM. lol

Just my 2cent

Get a Tag Heuer Link. you can get one close to 1k. I have one and I absolutely love it, have had it closing in on 10 years and it still looks/operates like the day I got it.

I can't believe anyone would EVER consider spending $1000 on a watch.

Unless it comes with a 19 year old blond swedish girl, who'll do your bidding on command for life.

For christ' sake people, it's a WATCH. If you need a watch to impress people, perhaps you should be focusing more on your demeanor, professionalism, and charisma. They are apparently lacking.

I don't belive a watch is a true watch unless it is some for form of mechanical/automatic. With that said, I think that for your price range you should definetly give Oris a try (www.oris.ch). Great watches with great mechanism's, AND they have a line dedicated to Williams F1 (Which is the official BMW team)

+1 for the Tag. My first $1000+ watch was a Tag SE/L that is over 15 years old and it still looks great and gets a lot of compliments. Even though I've got a lot more costlier watches since then, that old Tag still looks great, runs perfectly and I wear it at least 2x/week.

On an aside note, I bought a Montblanc watch from watchesplanet.com on a Saturday night. It was $500 less than in a Montblanc store. I had it all the way from Sri Lanka on Tuesday morning! I was a little worried about it's authenticity but when it needed some repair, Montblanc honored the warranty and it was indeed authentic. You might want to check them out, they have some nice watches there.

You don't even have to spend 1000 for a good watch. I have a Swiss Army Original and it cost about 200 dollars and it still looks good and no scratches in the crystal and it's almost 10 years old.

Im a huge fan of the TX brand of watches

http://txwatches.com/enter.html

They are around $500 for most of them and have features only found on high end watches....

For Example:

http://txwatches.com/mvle.html

I have this Mens Vogue TX World Time (limited edition)

-Only 100 made
-Steal Case
-Rose Gold Accents
-Italian Alligator Band
-Sapphire Crystal
-Screwdown Crown
-Engineered in Germany (Just like our BMWs)

Worth checking out ... I get a TON of comment on my watch all the time more then any other ... and even more then my friends Rolex

The argument of 'why have anything nice' doesn't quite fit for me, here.

My point is that a $20 watch will do basically everything a $1000 watch will do except for impress people. I'm looking at it from a "function over form" standpoint.

We get a BMW because it is a better functioning vehicle than most others... better handling, braking, etc.... And to US, it's usually better looking, but the fact is that we are going for the performance, not neccessarily the impressiveness.

Spending 1000 dollars for a watch isn't a very smart investment.

I dont totally buy that .....

If you want the best performing car for the money you would have bought a Evo or STI .... looks shouldn't be an issue if you really are all about "form over function"
