Exhaust and Manifold development/testing for forced induction applications

Over the last year we have seen some great results from exhaust headers/manifolds on other boosted BMW applications - namely the E46 M3 and E39 M5. By improving the volumeteric efficiency the supercharged version of both cars are making less boost with more power.

In the next coming months we will be developing/testing 2 new products with supercharged S65's in mind.

Over Size X Pipe and Rear Exhaust

The first will be an oversize version of our X Pipe and a new oversize version of our rear exhaust.

S65 Headers

The second will be headers/exhaust manifolds for the S65. We know that these have made little of no difference on normally aspirated engines but we are keen to see the results on a supercharged engine based on what we have seen on the older platforms.

We will also test on normally aspirated engines with our tuning to see if any benefit can be had.

Will update with pictures soon.

As always we will be sharing the data with you guys as we go along.

i dont think that will be too much of a factor, look at the other products that evolve sells that excel.. (e46 M3, E39 M5, E60 M5)

but dam you Evolve, more shit for me to want to buy!

Awesome! Was just talking about if there are any setups which may be better than my current in terms of being less restrictive to do exactly what you said - get the power higher and boost lower. Very interested to see how much of a difference the new pieces will make. I don't think there is anything out right now that is worth switching to in regard to this aspect. Really looking forward to this...

Forgot to ask why kind of differences have you seen on the e46 & e39 compared to the usual catless setup?

Here's an example for a boosted E46 M3.

E46 M3 6MT
ESS VT2-500 . 7psi . 91Octane
BMW Euro Headers with Euro Cats vs Supersprint V1 Stepped Headers with V1 Cats
2.16"-2.36" ID vs 2.5" ID

I actually don't know the PSI difference. When my buddy dyno'd his car, I don't think he had the capability at the time to log boost.

Hopefully Imran@Evolve can find some good info out there!

It's quiet! So quiet that I've been really lazy about hooking up the valves. It's on the black car, the white car has the Innotech (that Sal hates!)
