Hit a Deer. :(

So this past week, the weather was pretty decent, I took a road trip down to Virginia. The plan was to drive through Shenandoah National Park via Skyline drive , then Blue Ridge Parkway down to Tail of the Dragon.

This was going to be a road trip of a lifetime with great winding mountain roads, limited traffic and spectacular scenery as seen here:

Unfortunately, the start of second day, a deer darted out to the center of the road without warning and hit the side of the car. This is the end result:

I'm thankful it wasn't worse. So just a heads up to my fellow forum members. Be careful out there, don't ignore the 'deer' signs.

I'm going to get some quotes at body shops this week and hope the damage to the wallet won't be as extensive as the damage to the car...although I doubt it. lol.

Dude that sucks. Hope it didn't ruin your whole trip and you still got to enjoy the drive. At least it wasn't a head on collision. That would have caused serious damage. Hope they can fix this quickly and economically.

By the way, there is another M3 where I park downtown that looks exactly like yours with the Breyton wheels.

The deer walked away. The impact wasn't actually that bad. The fender is all plastic, that's why it looks worse than it was.

Random comment, but what did you do to your mirrors? Noticed the big plastic thing, assuming the entire assembly is aftermarket?

doesn't look bad at all. Needs a fender, blend the hood (cause of the shape of fender) and blend the door. should be good to go..

May want to file w/ insurance though under a comp claim

Don't think you'll get a comp claim out of that one. Fire, theft, windstorm, hail storm, glass breakage and Acts of God are comp claims. Animal collision are, well, collisions.

Yup, that's me on P3 lol. Sent you a pm. Good luck with the fix and hope she's back to her normal state sooner rather than later.

As much as it doesn't really make sense, most Deer hits are comp claims.

They're not usually processed under collision

Haha ya, $4,000 repair, paid by insurance (less deductible of course). Looks better than even before I hit the deer. Hood, bumper, door and rear fender all re-painted or blended. So all the chips, scratches are gone.

European Auto body treated me like a king and did great work.
