I picked mine up two weeks ago and I am so happy that I did. If I waited and missed out on the N/A V8 I would be disappointed. Something about that sound is just moving. Brings back memories of the late 60's an 70's true muscle cars. I guess BMW will use a twin turbo power plant going forward. If its the 6 cyl then the 335is owners will be mad. They could take the 6 series TT V8 and bore it more and stuff that in the M3. Either way this motor will be hard to find in the future, hold on boys!

Stand tall, me hearties! How long of a gap was there in E60 to F10's M5 metamorphosis? Nary but the wink of a crow's eye, missin only a year, & the new M5, as it descends upon its cloud, sings a sweet song indeed. Soon the E90/2/3 will be to us all as the E46 is today...an old pub where the barman looked immaculate but where the real action lay in the back room.

Expect the missing link in M3: The Next Generation, ladies & gentlemen: gobs & gobs of torque in our 450 horsies. And maybe even some interesting colors! Java Green! Laguna Seca Blue! Velvet Blue Metallic! Hellrot!

WOW is this really happening? Why???

Does that mean NEW M3 will come out in 2012 ???

I don't remember there being gaps between production during OLD to NEW M3's.

Should we be super excited???

I'm beginning to, maybe invest in a m3 now and get a great deal!
LOVE that engine note

E90 M3 production ends

I have one and I am sad to see the end of the E90 M3 before the other M3 versions but an alleged quote from Steve Jobs comes to mind.
Someone complained to him about the end of production of the Apple XServe server at the beginning of this year.
His reply was along the lines of "people didn't buy enough".

Considering that not too many people order the E90 M3-my hunch is that it will hold its resale value a lot better than the coupe. The two extra doors factor cannot be discounted and will be a bargain performance car buy for the family man who can afford it at depreciated prices.

In a couple of years, a used E90 M3 is also going to be competing with used E60 M5s, if you really need the 4 doors. For this reason, I don't see any substantial propped up price vs. E92/E93.

Actually, your prediction is becoming true right now. A coworker of mine just got a 2008 M5 for about $2000 more than what I sold my 2008 E90 M3 last March. The difference in miles was about 13000 (the M5 46000 vs M3 33000).

Interesting you say that because I've seen and heard differently with regard to the E60 M5-its depreciated quite rapidly considering the SMG horror stories that've plagued the marque even when under warranty. Not to mention-the high cost of maintaining the S85 engine.

Except for the MDCT Lag (which was resolved with a software update)-the E9X M3s have been largely deemed reliable even compared to its predecessor.

Considering the operating costs of the M3 are much lower than the M5-the second/third buyer of my car will most likely pay the premium for those reasons. Let's not forget the normally aspirated engine as opposed to a turbo set up where an indy shop will have better success at a lower shop rate.

Consumer Reports recently said M3 was BMW's most reliable vehicle. I think that will help the re-sale of the E9X M3.

I don't doubt the E60 M5 depreciates more quickly than an E9x M3. In fact, that supports my theory that pricing between an E60 M5 and E90 M3 could/will end up be very similar for comparable condition vehicles. When pricing is similar between the two, demand/price for E90 M3 will not likely increase.

I think the trouble with the E60 M5 is the level of upkeep necessary to keep it going. Considering its been out of production than the E90 M3-even if the prices are the same-the more reliable and newer E90 M3 will be an easier sell even if their prices are the same. Then again-its a case of two different buyer categories.

Agreed. Was pretty surprised to see 2008 M5s and 2008 M3s are currently going for the same price on the Autotrader here in Toronto... with some M5s priced even lower than M3s. Considering the M5 was at least $30k more at new that is a pretty brutal depreciation hit.

Just finalized my order for a e90 M3 with my dealer. It's in 112 status and scheduled for production in week 36. For anyone still waiting, there were 15 e90 M3 allocations available in the US as of a few days ago. These were priority 3 or 4, so the dealers that have them might be willing to give them up.

... now the waiting begins
