September production changes...

Has anyone else seen the thread on the F10 board about the combox required for the iDrive upgrades beginning with September production is seeing a delay and will not be available until week 37 production? My car is week 36 and I am trying to confirm this. Will follow up with my CA and BMWNA tomorrow but I waited to order my car to get these changes and will not accept the car if it does not have exactly what I ordered. If I can't push back my production date to get the proper hardware I can refuse delivery and re-order, though I'd obviously rather not go through that kind delay!

WTF is going on with BMW.I would think being that we all waited for this sep build we would all want the most upgraded things and to boot within a week WTF. Please let us know what you fdind out. I guess you are talking about i Drive getting new software, I don't understand why BMW screws everone up.

Not a software issue, it is the hardware. If you have your order sheet you will see a line item called "combox". This is the new hardware that allows the new features in the iDrive, including Mobile Office, streaming music over bluetooth and displaying of album art etc. I suppose there is some delay in getting the combox from the supplier...

Well I want new hardware too after this bullsh$% long wait. The only thing dealer gave me was the paper I signed with my options, the amount per month and my fees deposit. I guess I Need to ask for my order sheet I don't think I have that. Should this order sheet list every ordered option and all standard options as well.

Yes it will but given that you don't have a production number yet, you should be beyond the 37th week of production.

Please let us know what you find out. I'm scheduled for week 37 build...so hopefully I'm covered. But BMW needs to get their act together. I remember when I ordered a '99 528 and specifically waited until September builds because they were coming out with a new 5 speed auto transmission. Low and behold, the car arrived with the older 4 speed transmission b/c there were delays in getting the transmissions in. Typical BMW B/S!

Well, talked to BMWNA and the did some checking around and came back with the answer that anything built after the factory re-tooling in August would get the changes. He did not sound really confident in his answer and he realized that it did not alleviate my concerns. He did say that the dealer would have a better idea though I'm not sure how...

Not to sound ingnorant but, what are the specific dates of Week 37 Production? From what it looks like I believe it's Sept 27th-Oct 1st correct? Also, just checked my spec sheet and yes, it does say "combox" on it...

My car has a scheduled production week of 37 so I'm hoping i get the new combox. This would be complete BS on BMWs part if it didn't

Spoke with my CA and everything appears on track from his end. He did offer to re-order the car if there was an issue and he will call the regional rep to see if he's heard anything. Guess we won't know for sure until delivery!

It's not just with BMW. Delays for equipment changes happens with all manufacturers.

True but those of us on the bubble with orders in process are watching with some interest!

I understand...but BMW shouldn't build cars that are different than the orders. When I placed an order for a 528 with a 5-speed transmission, that's what I should have received. Instead they built a car based on available equipment at the time...irrespective of how I ordered it. That is B/S!!

Okay the good news is I have combox on my order. The not so good news is I have no production week yet but I have a production # . The good news is I think BMW factory is open today for building.

Dice, I'm in the same boat.. well figuratively at least. Ordered mine over a month ago, still just have a production number with no confirmed production date yet. We may have our cars at the same time so keep in touch!

Looking at ordering a new M3 and the dealer told me there were several changes with the new production cars. Start/Stop feature, M button, etc....

Turns out my production week is 36 now so this might affect me. I'll update if I find anything.

When I spoke to my CA last week, I was week 37 production. I've sent him an e-mail asking about the updates and if he is aware of any delays. I've also asked him to check my production week as it seems you just bumped up a week. I'll post any information I find out.

Any update on this? My car is a week 36 built and I'm going to be pissed if I don't get the Comm box.

Nothing definitive. There are some over in the F10 section (where this issue was firsrt raised) claiming they have confirmation that there week 35 and week 36 build cars are getting the combox. Not sure how they are getting that confirmation but my dealer seems unable give me any firm confirmation. He simply says it is on the build sheet so we should be good to go...
