m3 for both performance and look. I personally feel the m3 looks will keep growing on your vs the s5 looks will get boring after a few glances. That is what happened to me when I saw the s5 for the third time on the road where I didn't even care about it at all.
But everytime I see m3, I have to look. There is something special about the m that the s5 doesn't have. Interior, I like the s5 seats but that is about it. I prefer the m3 interior quality to the S5. The leather is thicker, plastic is thicker, button feel more solid. The s5 dash looks too busy and share the same low quality stuff with volkswagon products. |

i thought about both, almost purchased an 09 e92.
m3 is in a much higher class for performance and feel. i prefer the s5 for looks and finish, and as many have mentioned, for daily driving. when i'm on the road late at night i wish i had an m3, but driving in traffic and through the city during the day, glad i have the s5. the m3 is a beast (in the best way possible). now if one of them could get 30 mpg, i would have purchased it without hesitation i'm sure i'd have a similar dilemma if i had millions of dollars between purchasing a ferrari or aston martin. either way, i love both cars and love seeing both on the road. |

If you want something sporty with 30mpg get an Audi TT-S! Feels sportier than the M3. I drove both multiple times back-to-back and the TT-S felt better, but had no real back seat.

If you believe the leather in the M3 is better than in the S5 then you are talking out of your a$$. My M3 has serious scuff marking that has never been present on any car I have ever own which had leather seats.
You can say that the driving experience is better and I won't disagree but sorry mate when you rate the fit, finish and quality to be better than the S5 you are seriously wide of the mark. |

Am I the only one who thinks the M3 looks better, as least in a sporty sense? The M3 has become a legend. The A5/S5 from Audi has yet to prove itself in terms of longevity.

but as for looks, i have owned both and i got tons of comments on the Audi none on the M3 unless it was a male who was very much into cars and he is more impressed with the car as a whole than just looks keep in mind the name changed but the A5 is bascially the A4 coupe if you remember the days of the Audi coupe same car different name |

i would rate the BMW interior at 7 or 8 audi is a 9 or 10 from quality of dashboard plastic to fit and finish even to knobs etc, they feel better built in the Audi but keep in mind the Audi is a newer car the A5 just came out the E90/E92 shape is about 4 years old so in terms of technology its lagging behind the Audi but when it comes to steering braking etc no comparison no steering feel in the audi what so ever feels like playing Gran tourismo with a steering wheel without force feedback honestly when i used to take a corner i would just throw it into the corner and pray i had enough grip because i was not getting any feedback on how much traction i had only 2 things i miss about A5 was the interior and the 4wd believe it or not the think the M3 is more discrete cuz the E92 shape is not very new people are used to it i got many stares from people when i had the A5 looking in a sort of "what car is that?" stare |

S5 wins in the exterior and interior styling. Audi interiors murder their competition.
You will get more looks driving down the street in the S5, I guarantee it. M3 wins in the driving experience, hands down. |

There is a great head to head comparison of S5 and M3 on Inside Line.

Highly unlikely!
I like the exterior of the S5 despite loving the exterior of the ///M3, but I would assume that I'm one of the few who doesn't understand the hype surrounding Audi interiors. |

I loved the look of the E92 when it first came out a few years ago.. now it's starting to get old but still pretty..
I love the look of the A5/S5 and it's brand new.. A few years down the road, I asked myself.. What happens when the A5/S5 body style gets old.. I'll be left with a car that doesn't inspire me in any other way.. So I bought the M3.. |

test drove the S5 right before ordering the M3.
It was slower, it felt unattached to the road like a BENZ (but better). Beautiful inside and out, but so happy I went with M3. And yes, they are going to 6cylinder Turbo next year I believe

exactly what i felt
it was closer to a benz than a beemer they made such a fuss about how they moved the steering rack more forward and the engine sits lower to improve steering feel it has zero steering feel it's actually worse than my old chrysler crossfire and that has recirculating ball steering which is known to completely isolate you from the road |

I don't understand why so many people are so crazy over the Audi interiors. I had looked at an S5 and even RS4 prior to getting my current M3, and the interior of both cars did not appeal to me much. The RS4 interior, being an old platform, reminded me of a 2002 e46. The S5 interior to me looked way too busy and the nav screen looked small. I think the Audi's have nice materials and seats, but I do not like the switchgear on the electronics...doesn't look sleek to me at all.
On a side note, a buddy of mine was set on getting an Audi once his lease on his 2005 e46 M3 was up. He always gave me shit about me getting the e92 M3 instead of something else (he turned into a BMW hater for a short while). He was set on getting the new A4 loaded; always kept on saying how great the Audi interiors are, which of course I didn't agree with. He went to test drive the A4 and then drove a e92 328i. In the end he ended up getting a BMW and thought that the interior of the A4 felt cheap and the buttons felt weak/plasticy/cheap. In the end everyone has thier own opinion though...
