Intake Temperature Sensor Connectors
Ask: Can someone please unplug their air intake temperature sensor and tell me if their plug has two gold connectors (the plug, not the sensor itself).
I replaced the throttle body actuator last weekend but I got a new code from Carly: air intake temperature sensor. It wasn't a problem before. When I was putting everything back together I felt like I may have pulled the connector and maybe one of the wires pulled out of the connector. Why do I think this? The actual sensor has 2 pins and my plug only has one gold connector in it. - I have pulled away the plastic cover from the plug and there is one wire (greenish/red) - I have tested the connection in the one side with a circuit tester and it is getting power - I cleaned the sensor lightly with alcohol Maybe I just need a new sensor but if I pulled out the wire from the plug that would be a real headache. Please let me know if yours only has one. |

Yes the IAT sensor wire has two conductors. The oil pressure switch just below it in the oil filter housing has one conductor and a similar connector. Is it possible that you accidentally mixed up the two?
If you pulled out one of the wires from the IAT connector by accident, it should be a short process of relocating it from the area... If it damaged the housing or wires, BMW sells a replacement pigtail (PN 12517841385) since technicians commonly damage this when removing the plenum. |

Hi Matrix, don't mind can you tell me how do you remove the sensor out? I can't seems to remove it despite being able to turn clockwise and anti clockwise, but I still can't plug it out.
Thanks. |
