Those do look really nice. I have no need for a winter set here in Houston but if I did, that'd be the set I'd want!
BTW, the ///M logos are upside down....don't know if that was intentional or not. Yep, I was thinking the same thing. The progression (speaking in "home paint" terms but you get the point) is flat/matte --> satin --> semi-gloss --> gloss. It sounds like the wheel painter basically meant "just slightly more gloss than matte" and happened to call it flat whereas most of us would have called it satin.

Ha crap good catch. Yes the logos are on upside down, thanks for pointing that out... easy fix.
When the shop showed me a matte black wheel it looked quite dull. Kind of like a barbeque grill black if you know what I mean. Some may like that look but I didn't dig it. Glossy black looked super shiney while what they called flat black was right in between the two. I should've took camera phone pics of the wheel examples they had there, but there is definitely a difference between the matte and flat/satin finishes. Quote:

Just for comparison's sake, here is a picture of your wheel next to a black Style 359M from an actual GTS (taken from Mark's M's car):
Your wheel GTS wheel It's hard to tell any kind of difference... Nice.

Hey Daft, I'm jealous. My blacks are off just as yours are going on! Great choice with the satin finish, perfect match for the OEM GTS finish as aajami pointed out. Hey, great thing is....you can wax the satin finish. I tried some out of the way places with some Auto Glym Ultimate and it came up just fine. Gonna experiment with some other stuff and give my black rims (which are my summer's) some good protection.
Safe driving!! |
