Might Lease M3 Coupe, coming from VW

hey, i am on my friends name here.

im coming from a 2010 vw gti 2 door 6spd. i am full stage 2 and stanced. i am about 270whp. i absolutely love my car. i have always wanted an M and love my friends 335i but not enough to make the switch, its M or staying with gti. my current payment on the gti is $415/month over 60 months, i still owe roughly 10k on the car, it has 70k miles and is a basic model, no sunroof etc.

i am 25 years old and just feel like the BMW is a step up and and more appealing to me.

a friend of mine works for bmw and he gave me rough numbers and said might be some more wiggle room in there. i drive alot so i would need a higher mileage lease. i only want basic options for the car. this is what he received from his sales manager..

M3 coupe
manual
white exterior
red interior
only option is heated seats
36 month lease
15,000/year

$5000 down total $816
$6000 down total $786
$7000 down total $756
$8000 down total $726

total price is $64k and change

thats all the info i got from him as of now, will update more when i talk to him

how do these numbers look so far? any other info i should know when negotiating? i suck at negotiating but play poker for a living so can keep a straight face

thank you

Only put down the minimum...you save no money by putting that kind of money down on a lease. I lease, with miminum drive off my payment was $950 per month on a car that MSRPd at $67k, granted only 10k miles per year but my drive off was only $1800. You should be able to at least get $3k off of MSRP...

Agree with Dave and that it's best to drive off with as little as possible. Also, go to BMWCONFIG.com to better understand how much your dealer is making on top of invoice. Then the question becomes how much are you willing to give them in sales margin

you can get a better price. I got $755/mo with $4500 down before negotiating.. My MSRP was $68K.

If you have $8000+ in cash willing to throw down, I would look into multiple security deposits (MSD). You get a lower monthly, and get the money back at the end of the lease term. I've seen payments in the high $500's..

Don't do a down payment. It's tempting to lower the lease payment, but it's a very bad idea.

MSD's are ok in the current climate because interest rates are so low.

No reason to pay invoice on a brand new M3? Some dealers can't even get an allocation because they're selling so quickly. Steve Thomas BMW in CA is about $650 over and that's a stupid good price if you live in CA, but lose the benefit if you're out of state and need to fly there due to travel costs.

You show me where you can get an M3 right now at invoice or below and I'll paypal you $100 (straight deal, no trade or equity, rebates or incentives).

i like that this thread i made is really getting action because the one i made on vortex, just to compare, is getting nowhere.

my friends name im posting on has a 335i with JB4, catless downpipes, and afe dci....ive driven his car a couple times its really quick, how do you think the //M holds up to it is it really that much faster?

asking because i called paul miller bmw to get dif numbers and they will not let me drive the car until i go through the WHOLE process, credit, work out numbers and a deal etc. its absurd. i have tier 1 credit, look normal etc and am a serious buyer i dont feel like going through a whole process if i dont LOVE the car, and then they give me the whole speach and i just left.

they also have an 08 m3 sedan with 50k on it for 40k , 6spd, a couple dif packages and the red leather ive been wanting so i wanna look into that also
