There's already an M Grand Tourer, its called the M6

BMW M has enough big coupes/sedans in its portfolio.
What it needs is a proper supercar.

Rendition above has a much shorter wheelbase - M6/6 series is a yacht by comparison..IMO

I'm with you here. The gran coupe, M6, fuckin' boats and how BMW justifies a coupe descriptive with 4 doors is just asinine.

A few points:
1) The description itself says the dimensions are "roughly the same size" as the M6.
2) A car sharing roughly the same dimensions isn't going to have a "much shorter wheelbase"
3) Rendition above is hardly a technical drawing so deriving your conclusion of a "much shorter wheelbase" is laughable.

This is nothing more than an artistic exercise. BMW already produces this car, its called the M6.
If BMW decides to make a lighter, more powerful version of the M6, they will, but they aren't going start with a clean sheet design to build a slightly lighter, slightly more powerful version of an already existing car.

NO SIR. Avalon stays.
I will sell my Twin Turbo Nissan before I sell the Avalon.
Avalon is ONLY FWD 4door vehicle we own. It just reached 200,000 MILES!

Another note: I put a cheap Oahtsu tires this fall. During this snowy winter, Avalon was stopping and accelerating faster than 4wd/awd vehicles.
Cheap Oahsu tires+ Avalon= Best winter car ever.

ETA: I went to lunch today, and saw a real nice looking car. I initially thought it was Tesla S, but found out it was a NEW Avalon.

Lighten up - I'm not a mechanical engineer (nor did I sleep at a Holiday Inn last night)...

However, there seem to be subtle differences in your comparison that offer a different position from your comments. The rendition has shorter body panels, wheels pushed further to the corners, shorter rear window, etc...and remember - photos are subjective to skewed sizing and formatting for 2D print...

none of this makes sense to me... I think you're just shooting the shit right now.

btw, I'm going back to Greenwood Village, Co tomorrow, I'll be on the lookout for your Avalon. If I don't see it, I'm calling you bluff..I don't really think you have one.

You know next to my profile, I do drive a M3 as well as other vehicles.
Just that I've been driving Avalon a lot due to snowy winter this year.

Now I think about it, I should go down to greenwood vill when I service my Toyota instead near there.

Well yah if you resize the m6 to look like this m GT they look the same

On the m GT the front overhang is much shorter
The rear overhang is shorter as well
And the space between the rear wheel arch and the door is shorter too
Plus the headlights and tail lights on the m GT looks way better than the 6 series

I'd take this with the v8 of the e92 m3
I thought the whole idea behind all these niche products was being able to make many models off the same platform
So why can't we have something that actually looks good?
