E93 Interior Fan Strength?

Folks
Glad to be a part of this forum again. I recently bought a 2013 M3 Convertible (Space Grey). Love the car. Great condition. Question as I get used to it...

I put the interior climate control fully on the dash vent settings (not floor or defrost) and cranked the fan to max. The thing makes a pretty good amount of noise but the amount of air coming through was far less than any car or any BMW I have ever had. All the vents were open except for the ones in the back seat which I shut wondering if it was powered off the same fan.

Anyone else have this issue? Other thoughts for a new owner?

Thanks.

Make sure you're not on "Auto".

Nope. I took it off auto and the fan control toggle worked to increase and decrease fan speed but it just seems like a lot of noise with little pressure.

This is my first BMW, but I feel like the air speed is adequate with fan speed to the max.

This was the first thing I noticed with my M3, especially after the bitter cold winter we've been having. It doesn't matter if it's on 84 and Auto, or the fan speed is off Auto and all the way up on the center vent setting, the force is equivalent to an asthmatic ant trying to blow air. Not only that, but I've noticed it takes a good 15-20 mins to even warm up. The heated seats on the other hand heat up very quickly though.

AC in the M3 sucks compared to every other car I've owned.

I've accepted it and moved on. I love the M3 for the engine and driving dynamics.

I have an 08 and mine has settings for airspeed. Im not sure what they have in the newer models but you might want to make sure you are not set to soft. My AC works great! I have solid airflow on the higher settings and ultimate airflow with the top down ;-)

I had various of vehicles with rear vent.
My M3 E93 does same. Lack of wind coming out of rear vent. Same goes with my wife's old C300, Hyundai, and other vehicles we owned in the past.

Yes, they are OEM rims that were powder coated. I love the look with the Grey exterior paint.

I also own a space gray - been considering a powder coat color match scheme (gray on gray) for the rims....

Not sure I would love the Gray on Gray but have someone Photoshop it for you. Maybe gray with bare metal on the inserts.

Couple reasons why you might have low air flow:
"increased battery discharge" - if, when you started the car you got this warning, the hvac blower (along with other things) will operate at reduced power.

Check the air plenum around the blower. It's located above the cover in the passenger foot well. I was working in that area and noticed it popped off somehow and had a bunch of leakage.
While you have the footwell cover off, check the contacts on the blower and speed controller for corrosion. Water is known to leak threw the trim at the windshield and make its way down onto the insulation that's attached to the cover. The wet insulation shorts on the wire or causes the corrosion.

Make sure your cabin filters are clean. While you have the passengers side cabin filter off, look down in and make sure it's clean. If the windshield is leaking it leaks right on the blower and could be rusting it out.

Hope that helps! Air flow isn't great to begin with but if you think you have an issue, that would be where I'd start.

Thanks jdamore. My car is under factory warranty so I will drive over and see if they think it is normal. If not, they can fix it.

Appreciate it.

Having the car in FL, I dont have any complaints about the amount of air or the cooling abilities of the a/c.

The rear vent is kinda weak but not the fronts.
