There's a rod bearing thread for pics of your bearings when you change them out.
Your pics would be a good contribution to it.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

That is about what mine looked like -- 08M3 at 60k. I had copper showing only at some parting lines and a little down the bearing side from there. I would say definitely premature wear but no imminent danger.

I was gonna comment the same.

Also, not *too* bad looking relatively speaking to the other bearings members have posted. Whether that's signs for catastrophic failure or not is beyond me.

here in the Great Northern Country of Canada, the markup on parts + fluids is 100%. So a quart of oil usually cost somewhere around $25+tax. Lets just not include tax. @ $25/quart, 9 quart/oil change, 5k km OCI, 129k km (around 80k miles) will cost $5,850. That's excluding any Labour + Taxes + Oil filter (which also cost around $35 CAD each) lol. Damnnnnnn.

I too change my oil often, but not 5k km often. I do it every 6 months of 10k km (which is really only 6k miles) whichever comes first.

back to original topic, ya, those bearings don't look too bad. I am planning to get mine done too sometimes soon. mine is an 08 with 106k km, hopefully will save up enough to get it done by next spring.

Cheers!

Good for you!
It's nice to see bearings from a well maintained car.
Thanks for the pics

That's not true. It's 16$ CAD (12.7$ USD) at the BMW dealership for a litter.

But I spoke with some dealers and they offer a deal on the oil + oil filter kit for about 160$ CAD (127$ USD). Kind of a oil change kit.
