4 posts in a row means you are desperate for an internet victory which is not forthcoming to fulfil your empty life devoid of driving pleasure. You reek of the odour of the defeated and someone without a manual transmission. Come over to the BMW side, you will be much happier and you find much satisifaction mainly provided by a powerful, well balanced car. I have offered twice if you want to carry on by PM but you hang on to the hope that I will make some sort of concession publicly. Feel free to continue posting....

If we are talking motors and their weights, let's look at them. 3.2L I6 in the M3 weighs 478 pounds and makes 333hp. 3.5L V6 in the IS350 weighs 390 pounds and makes 306hp. New 4.0L M3 V8 weighs 445 pounds and makes 414hp. Cannot get the 5.0L IS-F V8's weight right now, but it makes 416hp. 7.0L Z06 V8 weighs 458 pounds and makes 505hp. Even Chrysler's piece of crap 6.1L HEMI weighs 399 pounds and makes 425hp. So which one is the boat anchor? Is engine weight vs. hp how an engine should be measured? You tell us. Have you even mentioned reliability? What is the reliability rate? I own an M. And reliability does not go in the same sentence. Not to mention BMW NA's haggle with warranty claims and denials.

There is a lot of things which makes the RS4 so nose heavy, one is because the front diff is behind the gearbox (cured with the new MLP chassis), second is the added weight of the transfer box (quattro), third the front diff itself and finally the front axle with the added strengthening to cope with the power. When all of these things are taken in to consideration I reckon Audi have done a bloody good job to have it only 60/40. Plus adding awd up to a point helps keep understeer in check, but only up to a point. The new A4 3.2 Quattro has an engine which is only 49Lbs lighter than the M3's 4.0L and yet with all of it's extra quattro hardware it's weight dist. is only 3.4% more to the front of the car than the M3 has which I believe is totally amazing. |

Sorry to hear. My car is a tank. And as for warranty, BMW replaced the coil packs last week for free. Yep 0$ from my pocket at almost 120k miles. To me that is absolutely exemplary, even if this part was TSB'd. Other than that, my only other problem was an alternator at about 90k..

I have had 3 M's and the E46 was the most unreliable, stranding me 3 times with faulty relays on the SMG. Absolutely no engine problems in any M car. BMWs in general have very little wrong with them. Just don't buy the September and October builds, it is Oktoberfest in Bavaria...... Build quality not so good.

If you buy the car as is, stock with no options, then it is relatively cheap. The problem is once you start adding options, the price can easily add up. Fully loaded is around $73k. And if you buy an M3 from a dealers stock inventory, more than likely they will only have M3's in their lot with options already included .
