Slight popping sound with new Akra Evo

Installed the Akra Evolution with CF tips a few days ago. Freaking awesome sound, love the roar

When changing up gears, I hear a slight popping sound from the exhaust - is this normal?

I'm older than most around here and my recollection is that pretty much all the sports cars from back in the day made that sound. I personally like that popping sound. I would agree not a whole lot of cars make that sound today.

Wow, its got to be easy to be you since you have it all figured out.

Back on the subject, the pop sound is normal, I think most of us with akra full system have it.

Change you gear change speed to a lower setting. The faster the gear change, the louder the pop.

Normal, I sometimes can detect it with the stock exhaust system. With my EI X-pipe (HFC), it's more pronounced. That popping sound is, I believe, a small void in constant exhaust gases moving through the pipes from when the engine rev's down, then back up. I hear it more as after a downshift and rpm's drop. It's not back fire though. Back fire is unburned gases re-lighting and being expelled.

I don't mean any offense by this but with every additional post you make you have me scratching my head

Almost every high performance car makes the popping sound, it is just not as noticeable with quieter exhausts. A 911 GT3, Ferarri 458, Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8 etc. (the list goes on and on) make popping/backfiring sounds. Shit, even the 2012 Mustang 5.0 rental that I have been driving for the last few weeks makes popping sounds on deceleration and upshifts. I don't think any of the above cars qualifies as a beater. I understand opinions are just that, but I don't think you will get many people to agree with your opinion.

To the OP: Congrats on the Akra!!! I have had the Akra Evo on my car for over a year now and I can tell you you won't find a better exhaust on the market if nice sound, good performance gain, quality/fittment, looks, and a lack of drone/excessive cabin noise are important to you. I think there are some other systems out there that may have a nicer tone than the Akra however none is as good an overall compromise.

Normal? - not so sure on changing UP.

DOWN yes, but not up.

Unless I'm missing something.
