Gong volume level

Don't shoot me if this has been brought up before. I searched, but couldn't find anything.

I've just recently found a flash drive that works with my car (6FL only, no BT, no assist, no idrive). It's working great, but I've noticed that my chime, or gong, volume will change with the USB volume. Meaning a modest volume in the music equals a deafening volume in the chime. This doesn't happen with the radio, cd, or iPhone on the y cable.

Any ideas?

The only possible cause of this behavior that I could think of could be the volume level of the music encoded in your USB stick. In other words, the USB volume level is relatively lower than the other sources, so you compensate by increasing the main volume. Increasing the main volume increases the gong volume over the "normal" volume.

Try re-encoding the USB music at a volume level as equal to the other sources as possible.

I use mp3gain to raise the volume on my tracks
Works great
And also has a normalize function
So all the songs have the same relative volume
Give it a try

Yea. I have to admit I was wrong. The volume of the gong DOES rise with the volume on all sources. My mistake. Thanks guys. I'll raise the mp3 volumes.
