Driving gloves for Track
I'm heading to Buttonwillow in September for my first track day.I've been checking out a few utube videos and I notice a lot of drivers wearing gloves.
1. How many of you use gloves during track driving. 2. Anyone feel uncomfortable in gloves 2.Any recommended gloves? Thanks in advance |

First day, just show up and have fun. After a few track days start to plan out what things you want and need.
See you in September, I'm also going to be there. edit: 10+ track days and no gloves yet...

^I agree with the idea that you should go to your first and get gear after. However, here in TX it gets very hot and my hands sweat. Before I know it my wheel is slippery as hell. I've got a set of Puma Pro-Fit Cat Gloves, which run about $100-120. They have phenomenal grip/feel and I couldn't be happier.

It's not about sweat only, but more about damping steering wheel vibrations that can cause blisters or callouses during a long stint. Not important for a first/easy DE IMO.

+1 on the first day, you don't need them. But if you do more days, look into these:
http://www.alpinestars.com/Tech_1R_G.../p/355106.html I have them in black, and the boots too, I like the extra thin sole for good pedal feel.

I use my golf gloves, super soft leather, just purchased one for the other hand. The grip is great, fit nice and snug, not more than $20.00 for two gloves. Try it it works great.

If you don't mind spending the cash, I say go for it and get a pair of driving gloves. Even with the old school BMW "M Stripe" leather gloves, I noticed a tremendous improvement in steering feel over not wearing any gloves at all.

I use the US Army issue green nomex flyer's gloves. $20 new. You can get them even cheaper at an army surplus store or free if you are in the Army.

Almost bought some gloves for my first track event... but in the end I really did not need them! the wheel has such a great feel as is.

Like sweat to the point where it soaks through the glove? Just having trouble seeing sweating in your gloves could pose a problem. Maybe some people are just really nervous

LOL that is actually a great idea! I bet the grip is super sticky on the wheel yet porous enough to keep your hands cool all the way to the golf course even during the sultry summer days in Houston. I will have to try this just for shitz.

Alfa events in this area require gloves so I always wear them. Once you get used to them they are second nature.

Nothing makes more sense in the TX summer heat than wearing more clothes!

I feel that my grip of steering wheel is better with gloves. Additionally, as Dawgdog mentioned, a few clubs require them.
I wear Stand 21 gloves. I love them. And they're from my hometown ;-)

+1 for golf gloves - less than $20 and much better grip if your hands sweat. Mine definitely do - last thing you want to worry about is losing grip

This is a good cost effective option - however buying a pair of rain golf gloves is better - come as a pair and give better grip dry or wet (after you sweat).

U can also try the BMW M driving gloves. Kinda like golf gloves. They are black leather with holes in them and have the M badge on them. I believe they cost like 30 bucks. Ive used them before and they work great.
