why isnt M3 CF interior shiny like M6?

I have been looking at pics of various CF trims and they all seem to have a glossy/shiny look. The M3 concept pics have CF interior trim, but it is not glossy...it has a matt finish.

I hope they have a glossy option for the CF as it looks much better than the matt finish.

According to the german price list you can get a real CF trim as extra equipment, 1.220,30 € in Germany.

Best regards, south

I saw an M6 with the real carbon fiber trim interior last weekend and it looked fantastic in person. It has much more flare and style to it in person than it conveys in photographs.

I would very much like to see the carbon fiber pattern leather in person before considering this option on the M3. The pictures shown thus full present a matte finish, as the OP noticed, that is quite dull and lifeless.

If real CF trim is a state-side option, I am seriously considering ordering it after seeing that trim in person in the M6.

Does the M6 carbon look like the porsche carbon packages?

Find a Z4 M Coupe

It has a option with similar "carbon look" dash pieces

It is not woven, it's a CF pattern pressed into the leather. I have it on my Z4M coupe and it's one of the best interior trims I have ever had on a BMW.

Ok, I've seen that. I really like the porsche carbon on my car much better. I hope they will use something similar.

Well, like southlight said it seems like BMW will offer a more traditional clearcoated CF as an option, seems like they are more willing to cater to all different tastes these days as porsche does. Which is a good thing

Mostly for looks. The plastic or leather trim doesn't weight that much to begin with.

Carbon Fibre is meant to be matté finished, the glossy stuff always looks fake to my eyes, even the M6, which didn't move me in any way.
