advice on my next car purchase! M3 to??

So my M3 lease is up in 3 months and I'm looking to jump into something a little better than the M3. I know most of you will tell me to jump on a porsche but It seems to me that here in Fort Lauderdale porsches are very common to see on the street.

I don't really track my car maybe once or twice a year. What I like of a car is the sexy/aggressive look and the feeling of driving a powerful car.

what are my options? I don't want my payments to go over 1500 a month. If buying i can put 20k down. or lease but no money down.

used ferrari, lambo, r8. maybe lease a M6

thanks in advance you all the advice and suggestions.

I actually test drove the F-type convertible I didn't feel it you know. and I don't really like Jaguar cars. The coupe looks very sexy

I you have the money, a R8 V10 would be my choice but it's still very expensive!

There's also the new Vantage GT, can't beat the look of that car, specially at around 100k! It's just missing a bit in the horsepower department but that's me, if the M3 had enough for you, then this would surelly do the job!

I initially was looking at the AM but there is a couple of Threads here that don't favor the AM much. I've seen lease numbers on the vantage around 1500 so is not a bad deal. This one is definitely in my option list.

how would you compare a M6 to a vantage GT?

C7 Corvette? Or even a C6 Z06 or ZR1? GTR? Can't get any more powerful than that!

Personally I think the Vantage crushes the M6 in looks, sounds, exclusivity and specialness. Probably more debatable in terms of driving experience. Also, I'm probably biased since I have a Vantage and have zero interest in an M6.

Final (unsolicited) thought. It would make me very nervous to be buying any of the cars on your list if I had to finance it and could only put $20K down. It's your money and all, but these are toys and IMO should be paid out of the toy fund, not be an ongoing financial commitment.

I got an R8 and have been real happy so far aside from all the attention it gets.

I have'nt driven any of the two but from my understanding the Vantage should be a much more dynamic and involving car to drive, a bit like a 911 while the M6 is really more of a grand cruiser with loads of power! My choice between the two would certainly be the Vantage but like I said, it's missing a bit of power to my taste, thus why an F-Type R seems like a good option! But honestly if you have the money to buy any of those cars brand new, then a used R8 V10 is probably not out of reach and to me, that's the pinnacle of sports cars(daily drivable ones)! One thing is sure, you are living a beatifull dilema, good luck with that!

First world problems! I'm not sure where I would land with a 1500 budget per month. I do like the new f type coupe as suggested. Would also probably look at used r8 and gt3. Depends on what its main focus will be.

I have not driven the GT version, but I have spent an extensive amount of time driving a Vantage V8. It has one of the most glorious exhaust notes I have ever heard. It's understated yet stands out for all the right reasons. The interior is a place you want to spend all day in, it's so nicely finished.

The power delivery is meh, the gear shifter (in a 6MT) is over-sized and clunky to use, and the clutch is a little soft. However the car is incredibly nimble, stable, and quick on its feet when you're playing in the high-rev range. It's a very specific car, not very versatile.....but lots of fun and shows you have a different kind of taste.

I would personally go for the F-type coupe at $100k.

i think the aston martin looks better overall but it is very close and the r8 is a better car as far as driving, handling and such. would look at used v10 models.

How about a viper? THe new ones have a beautiful interior and you can't beat 600 NATURALLY ASPIRATED horsepower.

Any day is such a blanket statement that I wouldn't feel right saying yes.

I purchased an R8 because I wanted something truly different. I really wanted to own a mid-engine, low to the ground, very wide car.

The Aston is non of those. It's front engine, decently low, and comparably wide to other cars of its type. And it blends in while also standing out, which you cannot say about the R8 (which stands out everywhere).

What kind of person are you?
What age are you (i'm not asking, just something for you to think about).
What's your personal and business situation like?

It will seem a lot more showy if you pull up somewhere with an R8, whereas an Aston will be more understated (although not the GT version with the bright colors, etc.).

Questions I wish I someone could have asked me about before I got the R8:
  • Do you mind all kinds of people pointing at you when you drive down the road?
  • Do you mind when every person you're next to at a stop light asks you to roll down the window so they can ask you to "trade cars" with them?
  • Do you mind being approached EVERY TIME you stop to get gas?
  • Do you mind having a comically sized trunk and not much storage at all behind the front seats?
  • Would the car attract too much attention (in a negative way) where you live?

If you compare the R8 to the AM in terms of looks, it's completely subjective. I prefer the R8.

My father owned the Vantage V8 I spoke previously about, and he upgraded to a DB-S, which I think is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen.
